Kratax mini torch or Olight S1R BATON II? URGENT!

Thank you very much for your advice. Instead with regard to the lack of battery carger on Acebeam TK16, which would you but between it and Olight S1R BATON II?

The Olight S1 series has been around for several years, and the TK16 is new as of this summer. I don’t have accurate sales numbers to say which is more popular.

Building a USB charger into the battery is a fairly common approach, which Olight also used on their S1 Mini. The battery is a standard 16340 Li-ion; you can use any 16340 rated for about 5A current, and you can charge the USB battery in a standard slot charger. I prefer using a dedicated slot charger like the Xtar VC2S rather than charging built into the light or battery.

Some people do prefer Olight’s magnetic charging, but it uses a proprietary cable and a proprietary battery instead of standard ones.

You are right on everything but maybe Olight S1 torch is better than TK16 for travellers because they don’t have to carry with them a battery charger too. I’m making an error?
PS: I don’t understand the precise battery od TK16, maybe is it a normal CR123A? Is it possible to charghe the TK16 battery (IMR16340NP) with a smartphone charger?

Olight sells a charger that is nearly as small as the Baton chargin cable. Very nice for travelling as it charges everything LiIon and NiMH. Comes with a nice pouch.

Indeed, or the folomov A1 charger.

Hey, maybe I did’t undertsand anything. But isn’t the Olight S1R Baton II charger included in the package? Do you have to buy it separately? :open_mouth:
Is it possible to charge Olight S1R Baton II battery with a charger working at 110 / 220volts? What precise charger do I have to buy? I will use the torch when I travel around the world.

Geuzzz,
wonderful news. But what if I wanted to charge the TK16 battery with a charger working at 110 / 220volts? What precise charger please?

You have to put the battery charger in a typical usb charger like your phone charger. These convert 230v to the needed 5v.

Sorry, I edited my last post in the meantime you were writing the reply.
I’m asking what are the 110/220 volts chargers (electricity), as for Olight S1R Baton II as Acebeam TK16? I need the precise models please.

The battery that comes with the TK16 is a 16340 with an added MicroUSB port. It can charge from any USB power supply including smartphone chargers, USB ports on computers, etc…. It can also be charged in a slot charger like the Xtar VC2S, and the TK16 can also use a standard 16340 without a USB port.

The battery that comes with the S1R is a 16340 with an extra negative contact added to the positive end. It can charge with a proprietary USB-A to magnetic connector cable that is included with the light, and also requires a USB power supply like a smartphone charger or PC USB port.

My TK16 came with an acebeam branded 16340 without USB connection.

Most single cell chargers work with usb though.

Hmm… I thought they were shipping with USB batteries now.

The Olight UC and Folomov A1 are very compact USB chargers with magnetic contacts that can be used to charge the included battery outside of the light.

Olight | Illuminate Your World. plus adaptor.

Or a cell like that:

Fenix ARB-L16-700UP USB Rechargeable 16340 Battery – Fenix Store plus standard USB charger

Only the Olight charging cable that comes with the light can be used. Other charging methods will either not work or are dangerous.

Unheard,
if I take the battery out of the torch could I charge it with a charger by elctricity 110/220?

I’m 2 days waiting to understand well but unfortunately I still don’t understand. Maybe it’s because of my bad English, I don’t know it. I ask the question again hoping someone can answer me exhaustively.
Repeat: I will use the torch in my trips and I don’t always have a computer or a smartphone but only electricity. I’d like to know if there is a specific wall charger that works with electricity to be able to charge the batteries. I’d like to buy one of the two torches just to be able to recharge the battery in the simplest way possible.
Can anyone point me out some precise model of charger working with electricity?
THANKS

As said many times now a simple usb charger. Like the one that comes with your phone.

Maybe now I understand better. In other words: I always have to use the USB cable and I have to plug it in the smatphone charger. It’s right? Thanks again to clear my ideas.

EDIT:  It is so difficult to buy a mini torch. :rage: If you were me, which would you buy between Acebeam TK16 and Olight S1R BATON II?

Yes, that’s right.

I would chose the emisar D4 :smiling_imp: Just joking I would go for the acebeam tk16 sst-20 hi cri.

But you have to make your own decision now. Single emitter VS triple. Side switch VS tail switch. Led color temp and cri. Build in charger or not. Choose your destiny.

LAST QUESTIONS PLEASE:

  1. Every Acebeam TK16 use sst-20 hi cri battery? Is it easy to find it and to buy it?
  2. Triple emitter gives a larger beam too?
  3. I like a lot the Olight S1R BATON II battery charging system. In fact it is not necessary to remove the battery from the torch. Unfortunately with the Acebeam TK16 it is necessary to remove it from the torch. It’s not a trivial matter.
    Thanks again one.

Since you prefer the Olight, just buy the Olight.

You can always buy a second flashlight
And a third
And a XXX’nd

I’m always asking questions here why I didn’t imagine it was so difficult to buy a mini torch for me. I don’t like the Olight S1R BATON II and the Acebeam TK16 (Osram). Olight S1R BATON II has a cold light beam and TK16 (Osram) has a good light beam but the beam is too much tight. I know there are other TK16 torches with wider beams but there aren’t for sale in my country. For this reason I can buy only Osram version. I repeat, I don’t have experience at all about lights but I seem to be asking so little from a mini torch: from a mini torch I need an enogh wide beam and not cold, around 5000 Kelvin. For me it is the same if there is another mini torch not Olight or Acebeam, every torch is the same for me. The most important thing is mini size, because I already have a bigger torch, I have an EagleTac G25C2 and I’d like to bring the mini torch always in my trouser pockets. If I will not able to find a mini torch with an enoght large beam (not exaggeratedly wide) and with nice white beam (not cold), I will reach a chinese store and I will buy a 5 euro light.
All you are special guys for me because you are a lot available and you are helping me …… but for my fault, I don’t have clear ideas about all the mini torches. I hope anyone can give me precise directions towards a mini torch.
I thank you.

Hey FoxAdriano, have you considered a different type of light?
I remembered that the new RovyVon Aurora A23 has a Nichia version (4000K-5000K), capable of 700 lumens. It is USB rechargeable, and you can also replace the battery (although it is not a battery like the 16340s or a “normal” cell).

Here is the link for their page in case you wanna take a look: https://www.rovyvon.com/products/a23?variant=29844458111079
