FT03 Osram LED mod?

Would it be possible to slap an osram 1mm2 led in the ft03 for vastly more throw? how difficult would it be?
I’m sorry for posting such a noob question but im really interested in turning the FT03 into the ultimate budget thrower.

You need a suitable mcpcb and driver.
A C8 is much easier to mod (as Geuzz opted for you)

What would the throw/cd be on a C8 modded with the osram?

200 + kCd.

But if you need a real thrower, i am willing to sell my GT to you, (1 MCd ) you are in NL as well

Afraid thats gonna be well outside my budget. not sure what you want for it. but i think i might just wait for the emisar D1Sv2, which will have 500kcd according to Hank

idk about dimension of d1sV2, but i assume it has same size of d1s, then it’s almost impossible to reach 500kcd

someone on reddit made one himself and got to 1km of throw: Emisar d1s with new osram 1mm2 led, about 1000m throw, KING THROW : flashlight

link to a thread discussing the D1v2https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/58216

The head on the D1Sv2 will be bigger than on the original D1S

1km of throw requires only 250kcd

if the head of new version is bigger, 500kcd is doable

See my signature

My FT03 makes 481 kcd with osram 1mm2
My BLF GT70 dedomed does 1008 kcd

The problem with white flat in an FT03 is the odd centering ring setup. ZozzV6 knows what he’s doing and has lots of experience, not saying you can’t do it but it’s gonna be a challenge for a new modder to get it centered well.

how did you do it? did you have to swap anything else besides the emitter? do you use a weaker battery in it just so you dont burn out the led?

I used MF02 XHP35 MCPCB and reflowed the Osram on that. On the driver I removed the fet and used the fet PWM channel to add a PCB with 12x 7135s (Cutted a convoy driver in half ) and control it with fet PWM.

So in turbo it using the first channel 7135 also so 13x7135 in total. Which means 4.55A max current.

Osram vs Stock SST40

Man! great job dude, i think i might just wait for the Emisar D1Sv2 for all that bother though.i might start with something a bit easier as my first mod, recommendations? i hear the C8(+) is a great light to mod. any interesting mods you can do with that light?

Buy a host only. Led4power 6A driver and osram led on MCPCB from led4power.com. Set the driver max current in config to 5A. And you can buy osram centering ring from Convoy Aliexpress shop and that way it is not so hard to do it. And you got around 200 kcd.

can you just sell me that set up? I have 2 x dead sst-40 on board, skill level none.

Anyone know where to get an mcpcb for the new osram culpm1? A customer wants one in their FT03 if possible

Not the correct size one for an FT03 but if you’re only running it at 5A-ish max i don’t see why a 20mm MCPCB wouldn’t be able to cope with the heat transfer. It would be a bit harder to centre and you’d have to be a bit creative in mating it to the shelf though.
EDIT: Just realised the PM1 is the 2mm LED so you’d be running more than 5A, i believe a 20mm MCPCB would still work but i haven’t done it myself. I have been keeping an eye out for a cheap enough FT03 to do exactly that though.

I was going to use the original driver as the culpm1 can handle it. Tried a 20mm but the centering gasket rests over the wires so that’s no good. I might flick Maxtoch a message

Ah, ok, bugger. That’s the difference between theory and practice
