The Gun Grey 4000K that I ordered on Sept 9 shows BACK ORDERED

:frowning:

It’s quite possible that they changed the status to backordered just to prevent people from ordering. You already have your order in so why be bummed out for no reason?

Maybe but it still doesn’t sit well with me (and others) that are left wondering due to status changes with no explanation.

I ordered the same exact one (Grey and 4000K) and wonder if there was an issue with this combination specifically. Anodizing, emitters, ??? It’s not a life or death situation, but it wouldn’t be a bad thing to communicate with customers. I doubt that a company as large as Banggood would reach out individually, but could they relay a message to Freeme?

I will check for you on Monday.
The Gun Grey 4000K that I ordered on Sept 9 shows BACK ORDERED :(
My Gun Grey 4000K order is now listed as Processing and on the listing it now shows Ships in 24 hours.

Did anyone get theirs yet in US?

Gun gray 4000K shipped yesterday. :sunglasses:

My Gun Grey/4000K just shipped too. Coincidence? I’m just glad it’s on its way.

Status changed to SHIPPED.

My olive-green shipped yesterday as well, ordered Sep 24th - no tracking #, yet maybe?

Freeme? I heard that this light will have a bit more throw than Fireflies E07. I like throw but I also like flood. I love the combo the BLF Q8 has, great flood and a decent throw. Could they make a lense for these that would make them a bit more floody? Like the one Fireflies Rot66 gen2 has. A simple lense change makes the light a bit of a flooder. I have ordered several of these MF01 MINIs and I would also like to order some lenses like that for them. Could you make that happen?

I, like yourself, like combination of flood and throw. But I was confused by your message below. If you want a beam profile BLFQ8 has, I would think they will need to make the MF01s mini more throwy, not more floody. I can’t inagine the mf01s mini having a defined throwy hot spot like the Q8. See, I’m wishing for the opposite, for a thrower mf01s mini, and I would think you’d like that too. I don’t think mf01smini will be as throwy/no flood as you believe…

Well, to me a thrower is a light with narrow far reaching beam. Like the astrolux ft03. BLF Q8 has much wider beam and and also a side flood beam that illuminates a whole area, not just a spot. But thats what I consider flood throw, I am in now way expert at this, just casual enthusiastic user.

Frosted lens?

Depends which astrolux ft03. The older one basically had one narrow beam throwing far and very little flood while the newer version 4300lm with xhp 50.2 has a good combination of flood and still a center hot spot, narrow beam going forward. I have both of them and like the latter more, of course it eats the battery faster though…

Added……In fact, my dream light would have been the beam profile and longer time on turbo of the new astrolux ft03 with xhp50.2 with 4300 lumens or close to 5000, somehow placed in a body of a thrunite tc20. I believe this will be possible within 6 months in not earlier. That’s my prediction……

Frosted lens?

I was thinking more like 45 degree beed surface TRI lens. Like the one
you can see in the fourth picture of this flashlight: https://banggood.app.link/xkxh4Q7mM0

The Q8 is reflector based and has unique characteristics as such. When I was on the Q8 team, there was a tendency by some to call it a flooder and I always had to correct them, saying no - it's a decent thrower as well. The Q8's head diameter is big enough to accommodate decent size reflectors, and with 4, it generates decent throw but relatively shallow reflectors gets a fairly bright spill area as well. TIR optics is a whole different thing - mostly not as focused as reflectors, and if they are, not as much spill. Very different characteristics.

We picked 4 LEDs for the Q8 for a reason - we felt it's the best combo of flood and throw from that head size, with sacrificing the extra lumens more LED's would give us, and keep the costs reasonable.

Sounds like you would prefer the spill and hot spot of a reflector light, but with a high # of LED's in such a small diameter, TIR optics is a more practical solution. In the past, they may have gone with 7 tiny reflector cups, but not sure if that would be doable in keeping the head diameter small as it is. Guess it's doable since they can get like 16 LED's in a Q8 size SRK now.

I tend to prefer reflector bases optics as well. That's why I ordered a Amutorch AX4 (4 LED's), after enjoying the Amutorch AX3 (2 LED's) so much. Today, it seems old fashioned not to have TIR optics, but there's something I prefer about the beam you get from reflectors.
