Well, I got a response from the Sofirn account that sent the codes. The response:
Well, I guess that’s not very helpful, since Amazon not only doesn’t accept PayPal as a payment method, but won’t even acknowledge the term “PayPal” in their help menu at all. I seriously could find no mention of it when trying to find an answer. I responded to the PM and advised Sofirn that since Amazon helpfully sent the order through before giving me a chance to check the payment type, I might need to cancel the order and get a refund if they charge my debit card.
Is it not possible to transfer the PayPal balance to the bank account/card associated with your PayPal? I have done this in the past with no additional fees, but it has a been a while so the process may have changed.
I was sent a code for a lantern without batteries. I replied stating I would like batteries and was sent another code. I couldn’t find an option for the LT1 with batteries on Amazon.us but I did find it on Amazon.de. BUT the code didn’t work.
I found the listing on eBay and submitted an offer for £62.99 including a message with my username but the offer expired this morning without any reply from Sofirn.
Took them three attempts to get a working code for one with batteries to me, but got there in the end. On amazon.de, free delivery to UK. Just keep asking!
Sometimes worth trying a different browser too. And ensure that you haven’t bought another, or that one is sitting in a basket in another window, as it may then assume you have your allocation of one. And don’t have one with, one without in your basket either….
When making an offer on EBay on the weekend — Change the default time the offer is open from 1 day to 2 days to take into account the weekend. This way the offer won’t expire before they return to work.
My code didn’t work because of the letter ‘x’, I deleted it, wrote it again and it worked, the version sent seemed to have a multiplication symbol rather than a real letter.
Beats me why they don’t make the same code work for either listing (lantern alone or in package with batts). They’d eliminate a ton of fuss and bother on both ends.
I noticed this before and when I asked Sofirn they said that they are just copying and pasting the codes as they get them from Amazon. Either Amazon is sending weird codes (unlikely would be my guess) or it has something to do with how they are copying and pasting what they are getting.
I think my situation might be cleared up now. I’ve been told to re-submit the ‘offer’ on eBay and it should be accepted this time. So, I just did that and waiting for them to get it.
I think I saw one person (Mtn Don) who purchased on amazon got a shipping notice. I bought mine on Thursday evening PDT on ebay, still no shipping notice. Hoping by morning.
thx chinooker. A few other folks have mentioned in another LT1 thread that theirs have shipped from amazon purchases. Maybe they have a priority for some reason. I’ve waited a couple years, I can wait a few more weeks. But I am really looking forward to it.
WooHoo! I just checked eBay and the LT1 was ready for me to purchase at GB price, so I paid up. Now to wait. The eBay estimated delivery schedule is Nov 7 - Nov 19. It would be great to get it a little sooner. We’ll see.
