Teaser XML-3 Coming 5A rated

For those that love the XML, XML3 is coming…… rated to 5Amp
XM-L3 is 100 lm brighter than SST-40 at 5A

it will have the Cree Logo on the package for those Fake Awareness lovers
Cheers

Interesting welight !
That makes the SST40 already outdated.

Hopefully it won’t be the CREE rainbow, and it has some good bins and high CRI options!
Let’s wait for some TexasAce Death tests

Finally some exciting stuff!

Fantastic news - have been waiting for a new 5050.

Now I have a good excuse to buy a new light.

Again these yellow LEDs… If there’ll be a rainbow like xp-g3 or xhp.2 then sst40 and luxeon v will still be the favorite

Bond wires on top so not a flip-chip design? (So possibly less Cree rainbow than XP-G3 etc)

Any idea of when they’ll be available?

Yeah, doesn’t look like a flip chip, so it should throw nicely and has little rainbow.
Quite exciting.
I hope they will produce high CRI variants as well.

:sunglasses:
Nice that Cree is still developing new leds. And indeed lets hope for no rainbow. And easy dedoming.

Good points, high CRI with easy dedome? Yes please! Especially if it can be overdriven.

Yes, high cri for the olight xml tirs please.

It should be! Cree’s XML2 official ratings are 3A, they survive until 6A or so
Since XML3 rumours are rated at 5A, this sounds as great news.

Interesting. That it’s rated brighter than SST40 is promising. But I wonder about its Vf. If it’s higher like other older gen Cree we won’t typically push much current through it. And with the bond wires there tends to be a not very high current limit (~8.5A for SST40, 5A for some earlier XML2s) so that will be interesting to see.

My concern as well.

finally, a new version of XM-L led

the yellow is lighter compared with other Flip chip LEDs of cree, so this will be interesting
edit: i can see 2 electrical wires, so it may not use Flip chip design

avail samples perhaps Dec 2019
vf quoted as 2.82 at 700ma
1513 Lumens at 5Amp
Cheers
Mark

SSt-40 is at 1703 lumens at 5 amps according to datasheet.

dont see P2 bin in their list of actual avail part numbers, is P2 out there? Cree data is based on side by side steady state test of SST-40 N5 bin next to XML3 U4 bin

SST-40 is in N4 and N5 available
so 1503-1603lm 85°C 5A

the question is how much current those bond wires take
