Emisar D4Sv2 Floody optic vs clear optic (Pic heavy)

Thanks , nice pictures. I really liked the juxtaposed pic. You can really study the beam difference that way .

Thanks, I would like to do the same for my emisar D4 but I have t received my floody optic yet.

Waiting on a D4sv2 to arrive. Ordered both optics and was wondering how they’ll look. Now I know. I also ordered a frosted optic for my D4.

Wow I cannot wait to get mine.

Is the cyan a matte, slightly rough finish as opposed to a slightly shinier, smooth finish?

I don’t want to see any more pictures of the cyan D4SV2.

Because they make me want one :person_facepalming: .

Thanks for the beamshots.

Nite shadow, I could try explaining it but smooth and rough is really a relative term. to me it feels very nice and smooth. Definitely a bit grippier / rougher than my FT03’s finish, I tried taking a high quality picture of the light so you might be able to get a better feel for it.

The D4 needed the frosted optic to hide the horrendous beam profile but the D4V2 not so much. THE D4V2 is throwy but the hotspot isn’t too noticeable. As a flood guy I don’t like seeing a circle of light lol.

Are you talking about the D4v2 having a better beam profile than the D4v1 or the D4S vs the D4V2? Im a little confused.
I have really never noticed the horrid beam profile people talk about. I would even go so far as to say i like the look of odd beam profiles because it makes the light a little more interesting to look at, sets it apart from ‘’normal’’ flashlights. that being said i did order floody optics for my D4 just to see how i like it, so far i think i prefer the clear optics for the D4 though. Love your videos btw, they made me get the FT03 XPL50.2.
Don’t get into too many dangerous places. I worry for your safety

The D4 had a wonky square profile with light spikes coming off it. It was dreadful but the output made up for it. The later D4’s (AFAIK) and D4V2 have a wonderful smooth graduating beam.

Never experienced that with my D4 SST20 5000k, im getting the XPL HI 5D emitters soon though, maybe those cause a worse profile? we will see.

Yeah mine were the original XPL-HI D4’s before the SST came out.

Yeap, that’s the order of the events, let’s say D4mk1 then D4mk2 then D4v2

Ordered mine just now, first ‘real’ flashlight. Had some smaller ones (Fenix lights for work) reading all the reviews made me want one. I am afraid that this will become another hobby (besides knives and bikes) Ordered a plain black D4SV2 with XPL-HI .

Hey guys I’ve heard there is an even floodier optic than the one I got on the int website

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can order this? This would be for my d4sv2

Thanks

Just got a 660nm deep red and a SST20 4000K today and love ’em both! Using 26350’s

I ordered the floody optics for the red and to my surprise, it came with the regular optics and the floody lens separately. Trying to figure out how you change the lenses out

You just need to unscrew the bezel and then try tapping out the optic or I had to use tweeser or toothpick because it was kind of glued in

Yeah, it’s a little finicky to get the optic out. I used my fingernail, and it eventually worked free.

I’m not sure if there’s a correct orientation to the optic. When I put in the frosted optic, it didn’t seem to fit, because it stuck out too far and I couldn’t screw back on the bezel. So, I rotated it a couple of times to try out a different orientation. That seemed to eventually work. The legs all look the same length, so maybe it just needed to be wiggled in or something.

In any case, replacing the optic is pretty easy, just don’t force anything.

I’ve just ordered a cyan D4SV2 with SST-20 4000k, this took some contemplation as I’m apprehensive over whether I will like it as XP-L Hi V3 3A 5000k is my comfort zone where I get a great balance of neutral white and lumens.

My only experience thus far are a couple of FW3As, one with SST-20 4000k and the other with XP-L Hi 3D 5000k. Whilst I appreciate the warmth of the muddy earth tones and foliage on dog walks the power of the Cree 5000k is usually my go to. I found the SST-20 cast the local mud towards a reddish brown which isn’t how it appears in daylight. Again the warmth does give a warmer feel to the environment during the cold winter nights.

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you finding the D4SV2 with SST-20 4000k and how does it compare to 5000k emitters if you have any?

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I really like it. Much softer color when I shine it on a white wall alongside my 6500k D4SV2. I doubt I’ll even use that one anymore except for maybe an emergency light to toss in my car

Unfortunately the only tints I have to compare it with are 2700K and 2000K. I don’t have a 5000 yet. I’m thinking of getting some 3500 and 4500 e21a lights though

I also like the deep red D4SV2 I got. Very cool looking

What battery are you going to use? I don’t have any 26650s and right now I’m using 26350s which are nice but probably not as powerful
