NIGHTWATCH NI40 SBT-90-GEN2

To give an idea for comparison, the Acebeam X65 mini is rated at 492,000 candela = 1,403 meters throw

Oh acebeam k75 was a sbt90 g2…opppss :disappointed: . nvr seen it. I often to neglect “expensive” section… but, image above clear showing a different, based on the “tunnel” beamshot. K75 has smaller hotspot than ni40.

Updates?

at first it look like the Ni40 outthrow the X65 mini, but nope

look at the brightness on the house, the X65 mini is clearly winner

I’d like to see more beamshots of this light if possible.

someone tell me if the LED only the 90.2 might be able to fit in the emisar d1s would love that combo :stuck_out_tongue: or let’s hope emisar d1s-v2 is coming with something like this led?

Beamshot please…

Gheez! What a light, 4000 lumen ansi on turbo. Thank a lot…

Seems like the 40T is perfect for this LED…now Hank has no excuse not to put it in the Noctigon K1

Nagonka:

MOON: 50lm
Low: 570lm
Mid: 1050lm
High: 1900lm
Turbo: 4950lm
Turbo after 30s: ~ 4000lm
Turbo pulls out about 22A from a 40T

Also said a full Shockli 5500 does only 3750 :frowning:

Someone else said it reaches 70.6°C after 1.5 minutes. There was no step down even after 3 minutes :open_mouth:

Hopefully, someone would mention their respective candela measurement, but just know the lumen value.

I would not say it’s perfect. It has it’s pros and cons. Some people might want longer Turbo time so they use a less powerful battery. Some people might want the longest runtime at med brightness level so they use a higher capacity battery. Pick the best battery for your needs.

Received mine yesterday. It’s a nice light. I measure 240kcd with a 40t. I was hoping and expecting a bit more. Like in the 300 range. I need to measure the lumens later.
But the memory is kinda finicky. When turning the light off in turbo, sometimes the light will turn on in low mode, high mode, or turbo. And I had the light on turbo for 5 or more seconds before turning off. And I waited 5 or more seconds before turning back on.
I tried like 20 times. I will test it some more when I get home from work today.

At how many seconds did you measure the throw?

About 980 meters for those wondering.

Been reading on TLF that driver (or switch) act weird, jumping through modes...

I don’t recommend putting a 21700 in there because it is longer than 26650 and will crush the springs. I had two Nightwatch NA40SE where I tried to use a protected 26650 and it permanently crushed the springs. Output permanently decreased by about 25% when using the same unprotected 26650 due to reduced spring contact pressure with the battery resulting in higher electrical resistance.

If reflector cup design to hit 1km, sbt 90.2 might be suit for it??

efficiency : it draw a way too much current, 20A? and not giving it best perfomance, instead overperform and exhausted in the initial turbo…but not that bad, probably its host undrestimated high current passing…

In terms of heat shedding, the host is as good as it gets. Probably the only thing that can be done to extend turbo is to use a copper shelf/pill like the Nightwatch IRA that used to be available from Enogear.

If this thing can hit 240kcd, that’s pretty impressive already since the head size is about the same as a GT Mini and D1S which only throws 130kcd.
