Sofirn C01R deep red [sold out, discontinued]

Interested in 1 (620/625nm). Interested in another 1 if the 660nm will be produced.

Okay, I put you down for 2pcs as I hope we get 660nm eventually. ;-)

Well, let's put it this way for the moment...

  1. Sofirn is interested in making this flashlight.【 ✓ 】
  2. The MPQ of 200 pcs will be reached. 【 very likely to happen 】
  3. The desired tint (deep red) and LED will be selected. 【 pending feedback from their suppliers 】
  4. The desired body color (wine red) will be realized. 【 pending feedback from their anodizing factory and cost effectiveness 】
  5. Sofirn has enough resources to start immediately with the production. 【 pending approval by their production planning 】

I will keep on collecting interest even beyond the 200 pcs mark, at least until we know for sure what the final specs will be and to demonstrate that there is enough interest to offer monochromatic keychain lights. This interest check can also be considered as a pilot for checking interest in a whole bunch of new C01S derivates (e.g. C01S with LH351D 2.700K 90CRI).

Currently, Sofirn is more than busy with the LT1 lantern sale and preparations for the 11/11 sale. They also want to speed things up on the development of the SP10S BLF Andúril flashlight which has received even more interest than the C01R. I assume that the AAA-format is not their top priority right now. Should the C01R get its final approval, they may want to incorporate it with the next batch run of all C01S models. Just contemplating...

Thank you Lux-P for this extensive explanation.
What’s your feeling? When the sales could start? After 11.11? End of Nov? Dec?

Personally, I'd like to be pessi...sorry realistic. :-D With that said, I do not expect it to happen before December 2019. The benefit about being realistic is, I feel more relaxed about delays and I am more delighted in case things suddenly go faster than expected. Please note that my guessing is more or less reading tea leaves. ;-)

“…C01S with LH351D 2.700K 90CRI…”

Ooooooooo! That might be nice!

… made from copper, of course.

I could use an extra red light for night photography, so interested in deep red, thanks!

Two more for 4, previous post 128.

1 more for me please. Previous post# 162

In for one of each wavelength, hopefully deep red can get up.

Interested in one.

Thanks for coordinating this project.

John.

Hi I am olles,
please add me for 2 more (totalling 3) - especially if there will be the deep red version (with wine red anodisation this would be perfect)! That would be 93 % then.
Thanks

Update (10/24/2019):

Sofirn is unfortunately unable to source XP-G3 deep red from their suppliers. They can only order XP-E2 deep red. I asked them to order some samples for testing with a C01S driver to make a prototype (checking tint quality, lm/W ratio, optimum current for low/high mode). As monochromatic light is difficult to measure in terms of lumens the output quality will also be "measured" by the human eye. I hope they can do two samples, each with a different LED, i.e. XP-E2 red 625nm and XP-E2 deep red 660nm and put them side by side for comparison. Maybe there's a slight chance to get both versions but that is pending further testing and Sofirn's decision in terms of the expected sales forecast.

Furthermore, they will probably use the standard red body color as "wine red" will be difficult to realize by their anodizing factory. Maybe it's also a matter of costs for a small-size batch like this one.

OP is updated accordingly.

I’m still happy with that. Thanks

The XP-E2 660nm is a recent quality led and is optically more suitable than XP-G2 (bit more throwish) so it will not get much better if you insist on 660nm.

Thank you for the update Lux-P. Anyway, I’d be happy if this project just comes into life. XP-E2 red is not a bad LED too, so it’s a not deal-breaker for me, hope for others too.
Just have in the back of my head Clemen’s store and E21A red on 10mm mcpcb. A nice mod idea… Have one spare waiting to be fixed :smiling_imp:

Looking at LH351H datashhets (especially the V2 option), it seems to be a bit more effective than XP-E2, but probably not worth the hassle of sourcing it.
Anyway, I’ll be interested in 660 nm option if it happens.

as long as its 660 nm its fine with me.
