Too bad it’s not the LT. Hopefully it will be at your doorstep soon.
mopar440_6:Definitely going to need both shades, the lanyard, the bottom cap, and a bag to fit all of that stuff along with the LT1. Great video Den.
IMO the solid white plastic top shade looks the best but the collapsible silicone is for sure the best option and most versatile.
A base cap that threads into the lantern head would be preferred over a slip over cap due to water intrusion.
A thread-in cap would be definitely better options with an o-ring. :+1:
Good job DBSAR!
I will want at least 3 of the full kits with cases if not more. Let us know when or if you start an interest list for kits.
The collapsible shade seems to be the most versatile and storage/carry friendly. If it allows the LT1 to be stored in the same case as the accessories, this is a plus as well. It also seems to grip onto the LT1 making it stable.
Does the collapsible shade work in conjunction with the side deflector? This would be my preferred combo.
I agree that the bottom cap should be screw on with O-ring for waterproofing and stability when used with base. It would be great if it could have a 1/4 x 20 threaded insert as well.
You might try to remove the foam from the center of the base to give the foam more grip per less surface area and make it more stable on uneven surfaces and less likely to wobble on high center. A ring resting on uneven surfaces is more stable then a flat disc.

We have approached Sofirn to see if they want to take on building the accessories kit for the LT1, and will certainly post updates to everyone as we get them. :+1:
Ok, here is the video explaining the accessories i been testing & using with the LT1 test lantern, (and original 2 prototypes)
The accessories i show in the video are listed below.
-Top hat reflector shade (for directing light down for overhead hanging, reading at a table, etc in the same manner as Coleman Lanterns shades do.
-Side directional shade ( for directing & increasing light in one direction to the side, (for creating a wider directional flood.
-paracord lanyard (for easier carrying, hanging from lines, branches, over head loops, tent loops, etc.
-charging cable (6 foot USB-C ( a heavy-duty longer charging & power cord for more remote charging & powering.
-Charging cable 12 volt direct Cig-socket ( for charging the lantern from 12-volt DC sources, like large power units, banks, car, RVs, etc.
-USB-C to 2.1x5mm adapter for 12 volt charging (adapter for connecting any of the common 2.1mm DC cord plugs to the lantern
-padded storage bag (for storage, packing in duffles, camp bags, etc. to protect the lantern from scratches, dings, etc.
-plastic wide base (To add stability & grip for uneven or angled surfaces
-Cap base for the lantern head when used without battery tube. ( to protect the driver contacts when using the lantern without the battery tube powered from USB-C sources.
-Accessory storage bag (for storing all the accessories.
I need to practice to record better videos, so bear with me in the video, also turn your volume up a bit, as my phone camera mic is not the best, and need to invest in a better video camera setup for these videos, and slow my talking down a bit.
I’m in for the neoprene bag, lanyard, side directional shades and the silicone collapsible cap
Great video!
I´m in love with this fading colour. Would to love to see a light anodized like that.
@DBSAR: thanks for the video but i can’t hear a word even with the volume cranked up, and please make it shorter.
For what i’ve seen, i’m not sure about the translucent top shade - it seems almost useless and still produces a lot of glare. Why not opaque?

How strange. I had no problem with volume.
As for the shade, there are going to be as many opinions on what it should be as people who have rectums. He has to try to satisfy as many people as possible, and that includes those folks who want some light to bleed through to light things “above” for whatever reason. But just because the one offered isn’t to your liking does NOT mean that you can’t make what you want.
Regarding the 14/20 screw… there are options out there with a tiny fold away bail type handle that would also allow the screw to be connected to the side shield. Here is what I mean. A swivel somewhere between both connections would prevent a birds nest from forming when the screw is employed.

And another option. (I can’t get it to work. Maybe cut and paste it into ones browser?)

A well thought out kit.
At the very least for Sofirn to request mfg, is the wide base, head base cap, and possibly the directional shade. Everything else can be self sourced as needed, if a total kit is not offered.
Any idea where we’re at with the codes? Waiting patiently for mine I’m number 2069
yeaah… i am nr 288 wanne buy on ebay and “out of stock”excluded batteries it sucks
update: i have made the offer for included batteries ist not out of stockfor now
I think a lot of us were under the impression that Sofirn may have been trying to dump the first 500 LT1’s and that was the reason for the eBay and AliExpress no code needed offers.
There was a lot of discussion about firmware changes and color offerings in the 2nd batch.
There were people talking about waiting for the 1st batch to sell out and not using thier codes or waiting to use thier codes until the end of the 30 day expiration date.
There was a lot of confusion after Sofirn made those 2 posts. Looks like that is getting sorted out.
What Alex did and what some others may have done by ordering an LT1 off of eBay are two different things IMO.
I don’t think we should be laying the guilt trip on those who grabbed an LT1 or two from eBay.
It was a messy start that’s for sure. It appears everyone who was legitimately on the list, will get the Lanterns they requested. Back to chill status…
Yeah, they actually posted how to order off Ebay. It was fair to use their instructions. Using someone else’s username is not cool.
I'm interested please include me...
Thank you
I’m interested please include me…
Thank you
The interest list was closed yesterday after the last of the 3,000 slots were taken.
Thanks very much DBSAR for the accessory-video!
And double-thanks you took up an other members and my idea on the collapsible silicone shade :+1:Regarding “Plastic wide base”:
I guess screwing the plastic wide base into the bottom-tripod-hole could make it more stable?Regarding “Cap base for the lantern head when used without battery tube”:
Please add a tipod-hole [and make it screw-on as mentioned somewhere above)]
That way, it could be used at the same time as the plastic wide base.Regarding “Side directional shade”
Knurling on the screw would definitively be cool!
Some kind of mechanism to not loose the screw would be even cooler
May i also suggest keeping the proposed carrying-handle (6:42 in the video) separated from the side shade? (but ofc. usable together?)
And please don’t just use the side-tripod mount for the handle, but the bottom-one, too.
good points! :+1:

Great video and ideas. I’ll leave my few cents about the accessories.
1) The bottom cap. It would be neat if Sofirn would be willing to machine them so they’re screw-on. With 1/4”–20 so you retain that feature without batteries.
But if they do a bottom cap, then they should also do a battery tube cap. Screw-on as well. That would be nice.
2) The wide base. If they make it then it should be attached with the 1/4”–20 thread on the bottom.
That way it can be a plastic frisbee with a hole in the middle. Make the screw captive for good measure.
And if they make the bottom cap with 1/4”–20 thread then the frisbee could be threaded on to that as well.
Personally I like tripod’s more. Compact ones are dime a dozen and in my opinion a tripod offers more stability on uneven ground. Usually they have a ball joint as well so you could keep the LT1 plumb.
Of course if you’re camping in a marsh or on a beach then a platter base would be superior because of the higher surface area.
Or they could include both. If they go with the “frisbee with a hole in the middle” route then that should be cheap enough for the accessory kit price not to balloon out of control.
3) Neoprene sleeve is a great idea. But only if they do not skimp on the quality of the material.
——
Hmm… What else…
——
4) If Sofirn decides to do the accessory kit, it would be nice if they could offer it in 3-4 different “flavors”. I for example have no interest in longer cables or cig-socket chargers.
“Basic” kit could include: storage bag for accessories, collapsible top hat, side reflector, bottom cap with tripod thread, lanyard.
Option 1 could add: neoprene sleeve for LT1, tripod?, battery tube cap?
Option 2 could add: 12V cig-socket charger + adapter + longer USB-C cable
“Premium” kit would include everything.
Or some other combinations.
Whoops, “few cents” indeed :person_facepalming:
BlueSwordM:Thanks!
BLF for some reason doesn’t like hyphens in URL’s folder/path section.
So in the future, only copy and paste Amazon links like this Amazon.com
Do not include the rest so the forum parses the url correctly.
Or you could just use the “insert link” button above the text box (it’s the fifth symbol from the left).
So you can do this.
Same goes for Ebay.
This is a hot mess https://www.ebay.com/itm/BLT-LT1-Lantern-Sofirn-USB-Rechargeable-Lamp-with-4pcs-18650-Batteries-3000mAh/383203278208?hash=item5938b1fd80:g:MlgAAOSwY8Zdnucp
This is not https://www.ebay.com/itm/383203278208
See what I did? I only included the /itm/somethingsomething
AliExpress usually doesn’t need work like that since their URL structure is different.
But this still isn’t that nice 23.01€ |Sofirn BLF LT1 8 * LH351D Camping Licht Mehrere Bedienung Verfahren Super Helle Taschenlampe Variable Farbe 2700K zu 5000K|LED-Taschenlampen| - AliExpress
But even if a URL doesn’t “need work” it’s good netiquette in my opinion to clean them up regardless, remove unnecessary refs and tags and sources and other nonsense that are unnecessary for the URL to work.
Since isn’t this a bit nicer? 23.01€ |Sofirn BLF LT1 8 * LH351D Camping Licht Mehrere Bedienung Verfahren Super Helle Taschenlampe Variable Farbe 2700K zu 5000K|LED-Taschenlampen| - AliExpress
