C01S with LH351D 2.700K 90CRI

Sorry, this thread is not about this (certainly wanted) variant of the C01S. If you are interested in the C01R (XP-E2 red or XP-E2 deep red), please let me know. :-)

We need this in our lives! Maybe we can make a new interest check thread… ?

Later on (after 11/11/2019 sales), I will be glad to run another multiple-choice interest check for more versions of the C01S, e.g. LH351D 2.700K 90CRI, SST-20 2.700K 95CRI or Osram KW CSLNM1.TG ("White Flat 1mm²").

Wouldn’t white flat need a different TIR to get throw though? But holy crap that’d be hilarious.

Maybe Sofirn will consider using other optics in the future too. Like the honeycomb optic a user posted about earlier in this thread. Some floody versions of the C01S would be awesome!

Yes, I think so, too. But if Manker can do it with their EC05 or Acebeam with their M50, well....I'm confident Sofirn could make it happen, too. Personally, I don't like Acebeam's proprietary/rare battery in the M50 and Manker's EC05 is probably a bit too large for a tiny keychain light. So, a C01S using a standard AAA cell could be the ideal host. But again, this will follow soon in a separate thread (after I have talked to Sofirn about the feasibility and the future of C01S in general).

I would like one

Interested in 2.

Please also consider less common emitters like E21A or Optisolis.

If you are asking questions to Sofirn anyway, could you ask them (how dare I ask on BLF) to glue the bezel? They all come loose after some time so that when switching off the light at some point you suddenly have the bezel, lens and optic loose in your hands. And you can not screw the bezel too tight or the driver stops making contact with the battery.

I had to read that one twice :sunglasses:

Know the feeling: sometimes the wrong end comes off when I want to swap the battery of my SS Enogear.

OT:

That one is very special. Like it, but it’s not for everyone.

I think the optics is nice, but it’s the wrong LED. Completely different beam with a Nichia 219C, and that’s what the C01S should have been IMO. If Lux decides to ask for user opinions about modifying the standard C01S, I’ll happily participate with some beamshots.

That's very unlikely to happen as Sofirn told me they had difficulties sourcing Nichia LEDs from their supplier(s). They didn't even get any XP-G3 deep red.

Barry asked me for more details, i.e. do you have a picture that easily describes/shows which parts become loose? He said that BLF edition of C01S was not glued for DYI purposes. Has this problem also occured on standard C01S (black, red, blue) models?

Update: Barry just told me he will check with the factory to ensure that future batches will be glued better. It seems some samples did not have enough glue. It's very difficult to use the right amount of glue. If it's too less, the head becomes loose, if it's too much, the glue will spill all over the threads.

The standard head compartement is also not glued. Thanks for that!

Imagine what happens when you lose the optics part (on the left) and have the LED left in the body.

By the way, I will start a poll on BLF asking people to vote if they want future batches of C01S/C01R with two modes (10lm, 100lm) or with three modes (1lm, 10lm, 100lm). Personally, I have a good feeling that many customers would appreciate a sublumen-mode (0.5 - 1lm) for using in full darkness with adapted eyes.
