High price lights in BLF

There’s this guy *SOLD*: Cool Fall Spy Tri-V Flashlight LATEST VERSION - LIKE NEW

holy smoke… that’s one of those special lights.

I assume with the crossover between the forums or some exodus from the other forum that maybe there is a small market here. I love the Tain lights, will never own one due to the price. It is hard to justify the Pineapples and Lan’s full of trits, but they sure do look nice. For me the Emisar’s, (a great value) are almost to high to purchase for me as I have no real need for all the lights I have. But, they are a minor obsession and the differences drive the obsession.

A lot of the enjoyment for me is building a light from parts and pieces. When I am done, it has a use and I had a desire to build it. Sometimes that means all electronics are changed, FW is changed or modified and the led is changed. Some satisfaction in taking a well built but dated light and bringing it up to todays standards.

which one are you talking about?
afaik all flashlight forums are still up and going well

I think the “exodus” is more slow and steady rather than all at once and has something to do with “the other forum”s penchant for creative moderation and less relatable focus (e.g. FS - Light hand milled from 24k gold with mokume-diamond inlays and $350 worth of tritium $12k FIRM)

You hit the nail on the head. Fancy metals and 2.8 amp drivers, do not do it for me. I have been a member there much longer than here… but I lurked here from almost day 1. There will always be collectors and maybe users of those lights, I just will never be one! I would love to see and handle some of the Tains but not likely to happen.

Dang, would love to see pic of the 24k gold flashlight.

It might exist, but I was being facetious. The review here would probably be something like:

Weight - A little heavy for EDC, but feels good in your hand
Durability - 0 drop resistance
Tint - not too bad for an old Cree flip chip, only slightly green. Would prefer LH351D/E21/SST-20/SW45k
Output - 700 Lumens on turbo is a bit low, but usable
Thermal Management - gets HOT
Might be interested in a future Platinum version, but wife is still upset from trading the firstborn for this one
Maybe M4DM4X has a coupon…
“probably end up as a shelf queen…”

I find it a bit ironic that a guy named deal grabber is dogging on a guy offering a killer deal just because it’s out of his price range. I mean, an as new safe queen CoolFall retails for $5200, the dude is offering a killer deal of ~40% off.
Will it sell here, no probably not, but of all people do you really gotta jump on the guy for (1) offering a killer deal and (2) exploring every possible venue of sale…

Even if I had oddles of extra cash (I’m talking won the powerball) it’s not something I’d be looking at but I’m still happy to see it listed here. It’s cool to look at and it’s a great indicator of the large demographic of members we have here.

Wait, how am I dogging the guy?

Is this not a thread pointing out the inplausibility of that light actually selling here? Calling it ironic to even list it because it’s budget lightforums?

SB has finally beaten it into out heads not to $h*t post in for sale threads so now we just start another thread to talk crap about how it’ll never sell and shouldn’t be listed…

Budget is subjective. Period. That’s it. Nothing more to discuss. Too expensive? Don’t buy it.

If you think that someone is wasting time posting a expensive light for sale, then you have to agree that starting a thread about what you think budget is, would be a effort in futility.

I am sorry you felt that way and seeing this post as a batch to the seller. I was just honestly like to know what expensive lights were sold here given the forum is for flasholics with limited budget.

Maybe that’s what this forum started as, a place for flashaholics with a small budget, but that’s not what it is today…

This is an all inclusive place for any flashaholics; buyers & sellers of all priced lights, makers and collectors even manufacturers and vendors. BLF is hands down the best flashlight forum, don’t let the name fool you into thinking it only caters to a specific price range!

Edit: I just checked, right this moment on the main page there are very active group buy threads for lights ranging from $2x to well over $1xx. And yes obviously there’s a huge difference from ~$100 to $3xxx but we discuss lights here, we shouldn’t be constrained by price…
The 3 most active threads of all time here are all groub buy threads, one for a $300 light (the top most posted in thread of all time), one for a $60 light and one for a $35 light. This place caters to everyone regardless of what you consider “budget”.

I didn’t take it that way, but my opinion isn’t likely worth too much on this subject.

I think I’d enjoy it if my discretionary budget included enough funds to buy those fancy lights, and I am happy for those that have managed to acquire that kind of walking money. I don’t see myself spending that any time soon (on a light anyway), but my Ti, Brass, and CU lights that I’ve purchased recently aren’t for everyone either. If I needed the functionality of that cool fall spy (whatever it is called) I’d probably build 3 small lights, attach them together somehow (3D printed grabber?) and pocket the difference. It does look and sound cool though.

You owe nobody an apology. It’s all good. I know what websites to stay away from because I know they aren’t in my budget. They might be in yours though. This is a friendly place where the budget seems to be from $1 to a few thousand. It’s still budget, just not everyone’s budget. Not much ego or elitism here. Safe place to discuss anything. You might not find people who agree with you all the time but you would never be moderated out of a thread or given the boot for not agreeing with someone.

I’m reminded of this meme/twitter phenomenon:

and this

"High price lights in BLF: I find it ironic because I see some lights are selling for..."

For me, choice of community is a matter of personality, that is why I like both.

And then there is this guy ..>>>

Guys, don’t be like folks on the OTHER forum....
