WTB Laser

I wanted a burning laser in the past…but after research found if you catch a stray beam shot or even a “wall flash” from one without glasses you could blind yourself or severely injure your retina.

I know if there was a clumsy way to burn my eyeballs because I wasn’t wearing laser glasses or caught an accidental flash from it I’d be the one to do it.

Eyes are important…and you only get two of them…I won’t have a “toy” that could cause permanent blinding injury from a half second lapse of judgement or caution in my house.

I’m sure they can be handled safely…but the risk can be great.

think it over…

If you want to burn stuff, a lighter would be much safer.

Just get one of these.

Burning lasers are fun but highly dangerous.
I built this tiny 1.6W 450nm titanium & copper keyring laser and it's scary! :D
You need suitable safety glasses, no messing about and not the ebay cheapo ones either.
But with using the glasses you can't see the beam, just the dot as that is how they work, blocking the light, which is a bummer but necessary for burning stuff or indoor use.

You can watch the beam outside without them so long as you don't reflect yourself or hit things you shouldn't.

Matches & balloons hit from around one metre. Lesser powered lasers wouldn't be so instantaneous.
Higher powered might set up the carpet :D

usually they will not just burn ‘’anything’’

the 18650 ones might burn black paper, or pop a black balloon
but they are not going to burn anything thick, or pop a white balloon

you might try ‘wicked lasers.com’ but those are going to cost $100 or so

wle

Sanwu lasers are more reliable and highly recommended on the laser pointer forum
OTHO I think Wicked Lasers is not really appreciated…

Yeah, avoid these:
LaserPointerPro, World’s Coolest Lasers, WarnLaser, Insanity Laser, LazerPoint, LuckLaser, HTPOW, Tacticult, LaserGlow, Wicked Lasers.

Good apparently:
Sanwu lasers
JetLasers
DragonLasers
Optotronics
O-Like
Survival Lasers
Gearbest
Fasttech
DTR Laser shop
CNI Lasers

gearbest? they have 10000s of cheap clones, they may have good stuff but the cheap is easier to find.

Threw it in for the under $20 option
Fasttech is probably better.

Ok, OK guys, omg, I will buy le freaking goggles too,
if, all her confirm you never accidentally blinded yourself with flashlight :stuck_out_tongue:
Just kidding, I will get protective goggles as well, when I put them on I will be invisible to laZar beam :sunglasses:
with those goggles James Bond movies would not be interesting at all, they could just walk across the room with hundreds-laser-beams-security-system and nothing would happen :person_facepalming:

C’mon guys, I am just looking for a toy that I could use to “zap” bugs from safe distance :innocent:
I don’t want to burn my house together with half a city with flamethrowers, I am not looking for a laser to cut 2” hardened, titanium reinforced (saw that on aliexpress  ) HSS or to slice walls like butter, just want to return some pain and suffering to this particular, super annoying and terribly stinky bug. It just loves to get everywhere and if you touch it, its bye bye Kansas, you can wash your hand for 2 days hoping to get rid of that “smell”.

Smoking black paper from 1 meter sounds just like what I need.

OR, if you heard for a flashlight collimator that can focus the beam of light to about 1mm and then keep it parallel, I could try that I guess,
if its 20$ or less :money_mouth_face:

Lol, I was looking at this flame thrower last week. I saw the video with the girl and went right to there site. 603.90, its very tempting lol.

If you want to kill bugs, a better option might be to get something like rubber band rifle

No need to worry about pesky reflections causing permanent blindness and safe enough to use indoors.

Amazon is just to funny, for Rubber band rifle they say :

but for 5W laser no problem to deliver it, in 1-2 week at your location

Same for me. I would love to play with “fire at a distance” with a nice powerful laser… but I know I would blind myself, my wife, my cats, and burn down my house…

We are not talking about making your eyes hurt for a few seconds.

We are talking about actual optical blindness…as in you burn/damage your retinas permanently and cause actual: “OMG! I CAN’T SEE!” (FOREVER!)

Please research this danger on the internet!

Your eye is basically a thin skin with jelly in it. If you catch a flash from this laser without goggles you can burn the cells in your retina permanently and there is no medical treatment for this. It can be as bad as staring at the sun. If it can light a match or burn tape it will burn your retina. Your retina is no where near as robust as a piece of electrical tape or even a rubber balloon!

It is not like a flashlight where you shine it in your eyes and you see a green spot for a few minutes and then it goes away…ACTUAL BLINDNESS!

Burning lasers can be handled safely, but just know a careless accident can cause a permanent loss of vision…NOT THE SAME AS LOOKING AT A FLASHLIGHT!

Not trying to scare you, but inform you…be cautious!

Right?

I’m not in California, CHECK.
I’m not in Maryland, CHECK.

I mean who DOESN’T want a flamethrower?

Please stop talking about flamethrowers, it took me a very long time to talk myself out of building one and the urge is resurfacing

Ok

Try a Bug-a-salt v3.0. I’ve heard that the Black Fly Edition is pretty good.
