WHAT FLASHLIGHT AAA SHOULD I BUY ?

Just FYI, the current BLF348 doesn’t use 219b anymore. They’ve been 219c with worse tint for almost two years now.

Maukka, what is your preferred small (i.e. AAA) light? Thanks!

I carry the Yuji Sofirn C01. Yeah, that’s not available anymore either :frowning:

2nd choice is 219b Lumintop Tool Cu with Ti electronic tail switch.

Stellar little light, I love mine. For keychain carry I would look at the Thrunite Ti3 or Ti XPL as I prefer twisties there. I like the Lumintop Stainless Worm on my keys but sometimes flip flop to the Ti XPL.

This is a beautiful light with great mode spacing! So I just purchased one in warm tint - with $3.95 flat rate shipping. Love that it is a twisty and only 67.4 mm in length. Thanks!

Edited:

FWIW, an extra 20% off the $20 sale price is available with code 20%. Ships to UK. France. Spain. USA. Canada. Germany. Italy. Japan. China. European 23 countries. Free shipping is available at least for US customers, but I don't know the threshold.

The 219c is no worse than the stock emitters; I very much prefer it over the cree rainbow.

As for 6500k Osram it makes blue objects look really good, but not anything else.

My current rotation is Thrunite Ti3 (with 219b SW45k) and C01 3500k; not available to buy.

Thrunite has lowest low mode but the stock emitter is ugly. If tint and cri is a priority than any of the Lumintops that have Nichia or the C01S SST20. The size of C01S is not much bigger than most AAA keychains lights, it has a well thought form factor.

My daughter needed a keyring flashlight and I gave her my long-serving and well-loved Thrunite Ti. I can’t think of anything better anywhere near the price point.

I took the opportunity to upgrade to a Prometheus Beta QR and I love it. It’s spendy but looks and feels great, not to mention having a great beam and tint.

The original NW XPL is a very pleasant tint but a very poor CRI. Luckily, if its your thing, its VERY easy to remove the pill to flow your choice of emitters to the star. Now what is interesting is that the star they use does have holes drilled into it for mounting the optic. I chose to reflow a XPL warm 80cri emitter instead of trimming the optic but you could probably do that as well.

I have and like that model (after an LED swap to High CRI)

The Olight branded version is discontinued, but there is a very similar model available:

The Glaree light at the above link looks interesting. Do you know the approx color temperature? Thanks!

“”Tint is cool white (maybe 6000K) and a bit greenish, so colors can look a little washed out.“”:Amazon.com

What color temperature do you actually want?

Since you realize that cool white low CRI does not work for you (i feel the same), i suggest you ignore all lights without High CRI LEDs.

Or plan to swap the LED to High CRI, and just buy lights whose host and driver you find appealing.

Im a total tint snob, and my favorite LED’s are Nichia 219b and E21a.

I dislike 219c (too green).

E21a are available in Folomov aaa size, though they only work w LiIon, not aaa

Just got a second one as I sent the first one back because it has next mode memory which I disliked. I just assumed it would default to FF. Ended up getting another because I really liked the light itself. What a crazy UI.

Of what? Thanks!

Sorry. Got distracted.
I was referring to the Thrunite Ti.

The Lumitop EDC01 is my favorite AAA light with the Fenix E05 a close second. Both are small and light-weight making good for keychain or small emergency tin. The EDC01 beats out the Fenix imho because of the higher max lumen and better mode spacing between M-L.

Not mine. It always goes to the next level. Turn off in medium, turns on in high. Doesn’t matter how long it is off. Won’t turn on in FF unless you turn off in high.

for the OP,
i got this “Enjoydeal” wonder for $1 in an order from BG, and it’s a bright little light and most useful EDC. It has a belt clip that i use on a hat brim that is especially useful at night if you have to check something under the hood. It has holes in the tail for adding a lanyard or keyring hoop. i filed a notch in the rim to provide some light when head standing. Simple On-Off tail switch but runs forever on a AAA. Wish i had a dozen to pass out to friends it is a great light.

glaree e03 has only 3lm for low mode, not a real moonlight mode. it was cool white, not my preferred color

thanks for that info…
did you measure the lumen levels on a meter yourself, or have a link to where you got the 3 lumen info?

It is always helpful to get real world lumen values as so many online specs are far from accurate

for example, the Glaree claims:
Mode: Moonlight: 0.1Lm
