Shockli 18650 3600mAh. Do you think these are normal batteries?

Capacity is probably a bit less, maybe 3400mah. Discharge is definitely wrong, no way it’s 25A continuous. Probably 8-10A. Similar to the Panasonic GA I believe. So low drain, high capacity. I would stick to the big brands if possible.

My choice for this light is a good middle battery like Samsung 30Q (I think button top are good for this model light) . It has good power plus capacity, is high quality, not too expensive and easy to find.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to see if Vaseline holds up to it, but I doubt it too. Aluminum shines up so nicely and the anodizing wasn’t up to par on my copy.
I have both,the MF01 and the MF01S,(in a wonderful silver colour),and I think that the switch of the new light is better.So,I ask if it is possible to change the switch to the new one.
I want to have handy the older light,because it has a strobe mode of 18Hz,as it is modded and it has both more lumens, different UI,plus 18Hz strobe.The latter,because this frequency is the more annoying frequency.
Is there a way to reset to factory?

Why do most choose 30Q batteries? Are there really no better batteries? For example, Vbatty V30 IMR 18650 3000 mA / h, 40A. I'm confused .

I think we need a special space for battery info ( and I’m sure it already exists on the forum) where someone could create a chart of batteries from best to worst, say in rows, and capacity in in columns for different battery types, perhaps there could be separate charts some taking into account max discharge rate or some measure of how well they maintain the amperage as the voltage sag, or could be shown by colors / graphs on the same chart. People could then submit results of their testing or voting and the majority’s info entered into the table? This could be accompanied by a short narrative/ manual as to how to choose the correct discharge rate / other parameters for the different light amperage demands. Perhaps this already exists in several places scattered thru the forum? Otherwise there will continuous be million battery question in every thread ?
“Best” usually depends on your use case. Do you want ultra-high discharge rate for maximum lumens but for a shorter runtime? Or would you like maximum capacity at the cost of discharge rate (sacrificing lumens for runtime)? Or is a higher voltage sag acceptable if you are cost conscious and want cheaper cells? There is no one “best” battery - it all depends on what you’re looking for.

See the answer above. Better or worse depends on what you want. If you want the extra lumens and shorter runtime, pick the 30Q. If you don’t mind giving up some lumens but gaining runtime, pick the Sanyo GA or Samsung 35E.

30Q is made by a top notch Japanese battery company so quality is high, it’s a great mix of high capacity and high amperage, it’s fairly cheap and it’s fairly easy to find.
Vbatty is a brand I’ve never heard of. HKJ has tested the 30V blus/gold and it’s performance is virtually identical to the 30Q. So it looks like a really good cell. It may even be a 30Q under the Vbatty wrapper.
Now the tricky part, is the cost and availability similar to a 30Q? Unfortunately I can’t seem to find it for sale anywhere.
Sanyo is another top notch Japanese cell. The main difference between the 3500mag, we call it the GA, and the 30Q is that the chemical mix inside is optimized for higher capacity (500mah more) and the expense of supplier lesser amperage. There is always a tradeoff among these top brand cells.
For instance, if you want more amperage you can use a Samsung 25R. It’s capacity is only 2500mah, but it can pull more amps.
So you can choose a battery that best suits your needs. For instance, some of my lights are limited in output, like a headlamp, and I need to longest runtimes possible. I may only run it at 500 lumen, but I need it for hours. In this case I’ll go with a high capacity cell like the 3500mah GA.
If I have a high powered light that can do 3000 lumen, I tend to go with a lower capacity, higher amperage battery.

Oh yeah, there is another person who tests a lot of cells called Mooch. He’s mostly on e-cig websites, but you can search the battery model and “Mooch” and find his results. He’s tested cells HKJ has not (plus a lot of the same ones), so between the two you have a better chance of finding info.

Not only are the 30Qs great batteries but they are typically the most reasonably priced from retailers like Illumn.com (my favorite place to get batteries/ lights). Not sure where Cloud is located but I am a big fan of 30Qs for the price, quality, and power. I have some GAs too but they are usually for headlamps or my Nichia lights.
they are common and easy to find for most, but they are not best, sony vtc6 have more amps if u want high drain, or lg hg2 also good choice…
