Sofirn SP10 Pro (AA/14500/Andúril 2) - now available!

Hellow my friend, some news of the project ? Or should buy Sp10s non anduril UI ?

I like how you think. For a while I was not interested at all in AA or 14500 lights, because the 14500/AA lights I found didn’t offer me any advantages over compact 18650 lights.

I like my DQG slim AA (1/2AA with extension tube) a lot. It has decent mode spacing, L-M-H order, and a tail clicky… and it’s even Ti hehe. The clip isn’t stellar; IMO all lights should screwed-on clips close to the end (D25C is a good reference for where the clip should attach, though the clip on mine has other weaknesses). My SC62 light has a great clip with the only issue being it’s mounted too far from the end of the light. If I got a “dream” AA light, I’d carry it EDC with a 14500. But it would be nice to have the option to load AA or NiMh AA if necessary. The DQG fills that for me, as it isn’t aimed at high outputs at all and still does nicely with a NiMh or fresh alkaleak, and quite well with lithium AA as well.

I actually disagree with you here about a AA light. Better emitters yes, but I would probably want lower outputs with a TIR. It would be nice for it to be easily moddable, but that always ends up costing additional length, and then for me at least it will quickly lose pocket time to compact 18650 lights (FW3A, SC62, D4). You’re right that it should still have a significant advantage of being thinner. Maybe that’s where the focus will have to stay. Something I like a lot about my DQG slim AA is that it’s so thin it almost fits inside my AA/14500 Thorfire’s battery tube.

Sorry, there is no interest list (yet) for this thread.

Apologies! My bad memory.

Interested.

I prefered sp10s with battery indicator and 3000K High CRI

So where are we at with this? Looks like the last updates are from much earlier in 2019.

My problem with the sp10 is that

  1. it’s just too big for an AA light ( just as long as a fw3a, and just as fat as an eagtac d25c. Not as bright as the fw3a, not as thrown as the d25 c), and
  2. the proud side switch will come on 40 times a day if I dont lock it out

Having a super easy and intuitive lockout for a light like this is paramount to making it a likable light.

I think a new u/I for edc lights would be nice:

Light is always locked out when off. Single click from off does nothing (maybe a dim, momentary batt check that is able to be disabled).

Hold down from off is monentary.

Click then 1 press/hold to go to moonlight.

Double click from off goes to the last used mode.

2 clicks + press/hold from off for top of ramp.

Triple click from off for turbo.

3 clicks plus press/hold for strobe. Just one strobe mode.

Quad click for a continuous batt check which doubles as a beacon. One click to turn off.

The ramping is similar to anduril.

One click to turn off from any mode.

No other features.

U/Is are like underwear- everybody has a different opinion of what is good, but horrible U/Is are universally hated.

I love anduril, but it could just use some tweaks for my personal tastes.

Interested, anyhow.
And the regular SP10S is sold out at sofirnlight.

I got an SP10S from a previous sale and the lack of magnetic tailcap is really bugging me. If it had one, then I would prolly get a couple.

This light with Anduril and 4,000k high cri is my most desired light. Hope it gets made.
