I think what Jackie is saying is that 11.11 is the best price because you can use the coupons. Then the total cost is lower.
Without using the coupons, the price is not the best.
So if your not familiar with the coupons, of course the price looks high. Same for BLF related group buy codes. If you go buy a new light without the code the price looks higher. You have to know all the tricks to get the lowest price.
You have to use the 5$ off 65$ select coupons, the 1$ or 2$ shop coupons and a red Aliexpress coupon if you have. Then the price will rock. Sofirnās Aliexpress store and some other stores allow you to use them all together.
Itās still very poor form to raise the price from (all prices USD) 48.99 to 61.24 (25% increase), and then advertise an 11:11 sale price of 40.42 (33% off, save $20.82) - when itās more like 48.99 to 40.24 (~17.5% off, save $8.57).
While I donāt disagree that itās still a nice drop from the average price, itās nowhere near as large a saving as advertised, due to the immediately-before price jump. I know that laws in other countries donāt apply to AliExpress, but thereās definitely consumer laws against this in a lot of countries due to misrepresentation. Example here: Price displays | ACCC
Iām just disappointed that Sofirn has chosen to do so, when other brands have not. Iād be lying if I said my trust in them hasnāt been shaken.
I donāt disagree that the prices will be the lowest of the year, or that theyāre a good deal - theyāre just far less of a deal than is advertised.
Everyone can enjoy the deals, but Iāll be a conscientious objector on this one.
Nice, you managed to actually score one of those? I tried multiple times but always got errors when I tried to claim the coupon as soon as they became available.
And yet i bet everyone here will ask sofirn for another sc31b 5.99$ code the next tine around
āEthicsā is me not moaning about lower prices but setting my alarm to wee hours of the morning to collect these coupons, and playing aliexpress stupid game twice to get more of em
But then folks should boycott sofirn, till ive used the codes anyways
Sofirn is trying to mislead their customers into thinking the discounts are larger than they really are.
Furthermore, according to djozz earlier message, they silently upped the promo prices as well, so people who put the items in their carts are likely to buy for more than they thought they would - and are likely to miss that.
Furthermore - in their store they showed a banner like āClick āfollowā to get a discount couponā. The coupon never arrivedā¦.
Such attempts are not nice. They mean one must be always very alert when buying from Sofirn to avoid any traps.
I much prefer Convoyās straight and honest pricing policy.
I thought it was understood that all companies raise the prices before a sale just to make their discounts look bigger. Isnāt this Advertising 101?
Iām actually shocked some countries passed a law to prevent this. Some type of āethicsā law to protect newbies who donāt know how things work. Television commercials are way way worse than this.
So what if someone doesnt get the ābest dealā on a product? Sellers are under no obligation to give you the best price, they need to make profit.
So you don't āmoanā about turning sales into a game where you have to spend considerable energy to get the deals. I don't set my alarm to collect coupons and I don't play stupid AliExpress games; and I certainly don't know how all that coupon game crap works.
āEnjoyā then, but I'd recommend you to avoid that āshow offā attitude; not just here, but as a rule. You're helping no one with it, and depending where you show off it can make you earn an unfriendly reception, i.e. a kick in the ass.
Raising price 25% immediately before a sale is an insult to the customers intelligence. When a store insults me - in real life or online - I take my business elsewhere.
No whining, no complaining. I just turn around and go elsewhere.
