[M4D deal] Nightwatch NI40 with Luminus SBT90 Gen2 interest list OPEN

I tested both my Golisi Gold 4300 and Vapcell 5500 on my MF01 mini. Both pulls in 23 to 24 Amps on the tailcap on Turbo. I’ll try again with a much thicker wire.

Found this on YouTube. Head is 52 degrees at 15 seconds. Doesn’t make sense. Maybe he turned it on earlier?
NI40

With this thing pulling 24 amps, it doesn’t surprise me at all.

All these beamshots are nice but has anyone actually measured throw and lumens output on a specified cell at a specified voltage? Seems strange Bluzie got one to take pics of but no measurements? I'm in the 2nd batch I guess, waiting for it to be shipped.

Here are some comments from TLF by the user who posted this video (LightintheNight). I’m kinda confused now cause according to Nagonka the 40T was 32% brighter than the Shockli.

I do not know if this works like this …. but I tried with very simple means to display the first 4 minutes of the control with temperature measurement. Safe far away from professional and only for good eyes, but just handy

Edit: a few more comments …

- Use found a full Samsung 30T battery with 4 or 5 charging cycles, but now has a deepTop ;-(

- the lamp was running all the time on Turbo, in another attempt in high regulates them The first few minutes hardly down

- the 30T had just after the 4 minutes turbo only 3.8 V

- the 30T brings a slightly higher turbo brightness than all the 26650 batteries that I have tried before

  • the lamp was not quite cold to start, because I previously 26650 batteries have measured briefly, ie the whole should be extendable by 10-15 sec

Have times a few details added above, was with 30T battery …
@ hjelpestikker With these batteries, I had compared the starting brightness …. The difference when starting on Turbo (pure data without conversion): - Shockli 5500: 367 - Keeppower 5200: 372 - Thrunite 5000 (evidently protected): shut down - Imalent 4500 (mE protected, but left): 369 - ijoy 4200: 366 - Samsung 30T (21700): 376 (not quite full, in the video then complete even 388 ) For comparison: at high, the value was at all around the 300 Lg LitN

I hear ya! Cant wait till someone from blf gets one to do a proper review…
I personally dont have good equipment to measure (just my phone) but I will when I get mine. I’ve got a shockli and a some golisi cells coming, should be here before the light.

I’d like to stuff this led into several different size lights to find it’s best home. I’m thinking its going to be something with a 3” head or
bigger, and 3 or more cells. I have a tn32 with a bad driver, that will be first. I’ll have to get creative to make it work.

I agree. Looking forward to you and other testing it.

To the best of my knowledge and based on output,The life of a Golisi on max[increments of 5 min.] will not be much more than my buddies MT35 W/XHP 50.2. Turn on was 4100L

5 minutes-3.83V
10 minutes-3.62V

It drains the battery as to be expected. That is why I have 3 X Golisi and 4 X Aspire. :sunglasses:

I got a modded triple XHP50.2 3V light that hit over 30 amps off a fresh GOLISI, so high amps draw is fine with me. The main thing is how this light does on throw, compared to the 220 kcd rating. It's the simplest thing to measure, in fact I find it wayyy easier than doing beamshots, though results may and will vary. I got 3 light meters and they have about a 5% variance range.

This SBT90.2 sure looks like it beats the dedomed XHP50.2 and the dedomed SST40 in throw, and of course much higher in lumens. Not sure where it is head to head with a XHP35 HI in throw, but the XHP35's require a special driver because of the 12V and restricted amps.

As far as I’m aware the XHP35 HI doesn’t throw as well as the SST40 but it’s pretty close. Besides having a slightly smaller head the Acebeam K75 is around 40-50% more intense than the BLF GT/Astrolux MF04. Acebeam T27 XHP35 with its 70mm head does 340kcd and the FT03 (same head size) does 367kcd with a Dedomed SST40. Obviously everyone’s measurement are a bit different but it does seem like the SST40 outthrows it by a bit and the SBT90 outthrows them both. According to that Chinese video though the SBT90 intensity was slightly less than the SST40. Even when comparing bluzies pics it seems pretty close to FT03 and a bit behind the M3XS-UT (250Kcd). Doesn’t make sense to me though. The SBT90.2 should be outthrowing the SST40. Hope that made sense. Lights are shipping soon so I guess we’ll just have to wait for some proper tests.

I assume you mean the SST40 DD, not the factory SST40 with dome. Things are getting a bit strange now, since I assume the SST40 is only produced with a dome, but we can buy dedomed variants, but I have to assume the DD is done after market, not by the factory, so there's no protective film/covering over the phosphor I guess?

Not so long ago, the XHP35 HI was the best factory LED available for throw, but clearly the OSRAM's 1mm and 2mm factory domeless throwers should have everyone beat, but at a cost of low amps, low total lumens output, and having a tight pencil beam. I haven't been sure how the SST40 DD fits in, comparatively, but glad you provided that info above. Of course it can be driven hard with decent lumens output and it's large surface should have a decent width beam. The newer XPL HI V4 bin LED's should also be competitive I would think, but again, not sure where it is in direct comparisons, but with the XPL HI's, all depends how many amps you can get out of one.

tm07 dedomed his FT03 and it went from 235kcd to 367kcd. Someone else said his was 357kcd. Unfortunately they are not available without a dome. Hopefully Luminus decides to make some. Could make some really good budget throwers.

Neal lists a bunch of comparative throw #'s of the LED variants for this Nightwatch NI40 Stalker here, which is pretty useful info if it's correct, and if it is using a true FET based driver as I suspect it does, based on the power(W) numbers listed.

Looks like KD still is selling the DD SST40's here: http://kaidomain.com Luminus-SST-40-Dedomed-White-6500K-LED-Emitter

Post #220 on Thursday 7th of November

I know you are just the messenger man and I hope this is true.

Unless we count the weekend, tomorrow is the last day of the week. No more shipping today it is 8:44pm Hong Kong time now.

I have learned to lower my expectations in many areas of my life. This is one of them! Serenity is a by product of that.

I am not expecting it to be shipped tomorrow based on my Two emails to Neal that went unanswered on Oct. 23rd and Oct. 29th.

He said he’ll receive them this week and they’ll also ship the same week. Mine hasn’t shipped yet though. Someone above said the stock is supposed to arrive on Monday which is 3 days ago. I did message him yesterday asking if I’ll receive a tracking number when it’s shipped to which he said yes. Tried emailing him a few days ago. Didn’t work. I only message him on FB now. Sometimes he doesn’t reply but these last few days he’s been replying pretty quickly.

Thanks. I will just wait. You can be “Our” Informant.

Got mine! shockli black 5500 only around 16A (battery was not full).

2.5m to the wall. All on max. D80v2 SST-40, GT mini XP-L HI, M21A CULNM1.TG (6A), NI40 SBT90-2:

Album with all pictures

Thanks

Why would you test it with a battery that is not fully charged?!

Nice. I would love to see that same pic with all the lights fully charged.

Neal said he’s received 20 pcs. Mine will ship today. Yay! I think he also said he will receive the rest of them this week.

Update:

I measured 17A max. Other also report not the best performance with shockli black.

Lux at 6.7m:

  • D80v2: 1289 (58 kcd)
  • GT mini: 2151 (96 kcd)
  • M21A: 5025 (225 kcd)
  • NI40: 4124 (185 kcd)

Ceiling bounce:

  • D80v2: 247
  • GT mini: 148
  • M21A: 116
  • NI40: 525
  • NI40 on high: 253

Low performance of GT mini in my case is probably caused by springs, because sometimes I use longer cells with integrated charging in GT mini. The measurement was taken with VC6 and it resulted with reduced springs tension.
