Sofirn SC31 vs SC31B

And yet no one cares about the firmware bug or the “700 lumens” (ill wait for a few more testers to confirm)

It is literally the best deal simple to use USB charging lamp right now

Haters can hate, but ive given a few to “muggles” and they dont give a damn about what some flashaholic thinks

Very few know it’s 700 lumens. It’s good to actually know what you’re buying so you know a genuinely rated light at 1000 lumens is a better upgrade in the future.

I’m trying to do my best fighting a marketplace filled with fake ratings. I’m probably one of the few store owners in the world that sell lights at their true rating.

Oh you mean yr test tube numbers that dont mean a thing in the real world?

I mean BLF flashaholics swore up and down that the sc31b has no stepdown, yet they COULDNT EVEN NOTICE a halving of lumens by eye

The difference between 700 and 1000 is minimal in real world usage

Maybe you should “go after” convoy for their RECURRING biscotti issue that bins the light into a single mode group

Now THAT is a real firmware issue for the last 3 years, yet convoy keeps selling lights with the issue

https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/bymyt3/beware_convoysimon_is_still_selling_drivers_with/

Do you even own a sc31b?

The thread you linked to has my video actually showing the test of the step down and lumens lol so that must mean I own one. I also sell them.

I love the Sofirn lights, I sell almost every model but I’m still going to test and post the results.

I’ve heard about that issue on the Convoy’s yet I’ve built and sold over a hundred flashlights using that driver and haven’t seen it myself. Just like ToyKeeper says that it happens randomly on some but not all.

Are you gonna go after convoy for their “lies” lumen claims on the s2+ too?

I mean not only is there a firmware issue that locks the light, they only put out around 700 lms too on the 8x7135 despite claiming “1000”

The sofirn “firmware” issue is pretty benign in comparison

Theres been 3+ instances of newly bought s2+ on here and reddit in the past 2 months having this issue

Notice how no ones is helping the poor guy

Time for you to take the flamethrower to convoy!!!

Why do you have such a sour attitude? I’m only reporting my tests. How is it different than a review on pros and cons?

You sound like a Sofirn fan boy that can’t handle hearing a little criticism.

Maukka posted that his 3B tint was likely a 4C by mistake which tested 720 lumens on my same light. The Cool white variant tested at 860 - 900 lumens on mine which varied between different builds.

I report on Convoy, Astrolux, BLF among others just the same. I sell heaps of brands.

BearBreeder I agree the lumen wars are pointless and there’s little real-world value in the 700 lumens vs 1000 lumens. Having said that, it’s valuable for people to know what they’re getting and how a given company’s claims stack up objectively. No need to sling mud at other companies though.

Funtastic Thanks for measuring and reporting, especially since most people have no way to verify the lumen claims.

Has anyone confirmed you 700 lumens measurement?

Wake me up when they do

Yr lumens measurements dont really matter too much for real word usage

What DOES matter is the actual graph itself (regulated or not) and actual runtimes

And testing for LVP, and making sure the charger terminates properly and doesnt trickle

This vid matters much more than a test tube number :stuck_out_tongue:

Its amazing how certain companies get a pass here

Convoy for their biscotti issue, and their “send you a driver” warranty fix

Or astrolux with their lack of warranty after a month or two

Quite a few on BLF have the same test equipment sold by Texas Ace and their numbers are very close. Same goes for Matt’s who’s recent equipment tested almost the same.

But have they gotten 700 lumens out of the sc31b to confirm your numbers …

It doesn’t matter what light they’ve tested, it’s all the same because it’s properly calibrated. If I wasn’t confident in my test numbers it wouldn’t make sense to sell my lights below the stated rating.

You could jump on over to Maukka’s thread and inquire from the one who sells the calibration lights.

Ummmm so no one else has confirmed your numbers …

Theres a reason why we dont rely on a single data point

Perhaps you got a sc31b with an unintentional firmware throttle …

Note that the difference matters much in the real world, you can see in the vid above that the sc31b is quite close to the sp31v2

Did you miss where I said I sold “them” I have quite a few and I test every light before my customers get it.

The SC31B has a much tighter beam so it throws similar to the SP31 but doesn’t have the same spill

I didnt miss the part where no one has confirmed your numbers yet …

Since you have a few, whats the current draw on turbo?

Can you tell the difference?

Sorry, I’m not going to continue with this point less conversation.

As above someone else agrees that sharing numbers is beneficial

Well share the current draw please

Since thats EXTREMELY important so that if someone wants a protected bat, they get one under the threshold

Oh and the LVP test which is extremely important too

Any protected battery will be fine even with 1000 lumens.

You can do that. I posted my result of lumens.

Im simply asking for the current draw and LVP test, which you of course measured for your customers (especially to see if there is lvp)

I mean thats more important than the 700-1000 lumens as these affect the actual running of the light

Here is a protected bat based on a pana 3100 mah which trips at ~3 amps

Thats damn near what a “1000 lumens” light would draw

https://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Foxnovo%2018650%203100mAh%20(Blue-white)%20UK.html

Someone else can contribute or wait for a full review.

No, you can’t handle criticism on Sofirn, that’s why you straight away attacked Convoy.

Well youre the one bringing up a “firmware issue” that doesnt really affect anything

But giving convoy a pass for knowingly selling biscotti issue s2+ the last 3 years or so

A simple search will show plenty of folks in 2019 still having this issue

I take it you test the mode group selection and mode memory in ALL the s2+ you sell to make sure a customer wont get a locked light?

So did you test the LVP or not in the sc31b? Thats pretty important.

In fact if there is indeed no LVP, ill be the first to say “BAD SOFIRN, NO DOGGY TREAT FOR YOU” :stuck_out_tongue:
