I Have one on order from Manafont, but don't know when it will get here. Service seems slow, but I expect that from China. I hope Eneloops will fit as that is what I plan to use. Now I am concerned as to whether or not they will.
Thanks for the review. I may order another if we know that Eneloops will fit. The output is surprising to me, but I see it is at the expense of run time.
Has there been a review of the AA model. I also noticed from the Manafont site that there is an extension for the AA that allows the use of two AA. I suppose it would not affect the output but only the run times?
Thank you very much. That was a GREAT review of the Lumintop Worm. Made me want one. I appreciate the comments re the 10440s. I have some on order, and plan to give them a try. I have the iTP A3 and the LD 01.
I am grateful for you who have such a wealth of knowledge and share it with us.
Thanks, Old. It's always interesting to hear a "best of breed" opinion from someone who has several similar lights and can examine them back to back to back.
today i've expanded the section "Disassembly / Troubleshooting." of my review with a few more relevant pix. the reflector of the V2 is glued onto the LED board as before. whoever opens the sealed head (the threads are glued with green stuff!) and then kicks haha against the reflector will tear off the reflector and leave a compromised insulator layer, as before (in V1). I dont expect a better solution in V3 (the manufacturer is aware of my dissatisfaction about their glue); the head will come again sealed (with green glue) which means that the user is not supposed to unscrew the upper head part.
not much force needed. if you ever need to unseal the head (because your Tank "died"), then do it. i have prepared several copies of a circular cut insulator (plastic!!, from a coax) in case i need to (re-)fix the insulation. I am looking forward (honestly!) to installing the plastic insulator in my V3 sample. Once your unit has a plastic or foil insulator, it will never "die" again, promised. It's then really built like a Tank!
I’ve obtained my Tank007 E09 today. It’s a rather poor but more pocketable quick replacement for my lost Nitecore D10. Nice little light.
Low-mode users like me might dislike the mode memory behavior:
It cycles high-mid-low modes by loosen/tighten. It remembers the current mode, if it shines for at least approx. 3 seconds. Unfortunately, the mode iteration is triggered not by the short OFF period (loosen/tighten) but rather by short ON period. So if you have set the low mode, turn it on for less than 3 seconds (often enough for orientate yourself in very dark room), next time you turn it on, it shines the HIGH mode. Not very pleasant feature.
today i received my 10th copy of E09, from Dinodirect, and it's probably not going to be the last. anyone who's got a DD gf i advise to wait for the E09 price to drop back to ~13.xx$, then apply a 10% OFF coupon. total will be ~12.00$. finally with your 5$ gf it's a great deal, end total ~7$.
probably the cheapest 3-mode 1xAAA keychain light on earth. and still one of the very brightest and throwiest.
burns hands and eats your Eneloop AAA in ~35mins hahaah! :D
i do wish DD and Tank007 came up with some more or new items of interest for my gf.
Edit: I forgot, their cases are different, manafont has a plastic one, and fasttech has a tin? One. I prefer the metallic box from fasttech, very nice for a gift
