I got a different lantern today. A few weeks ago I found an Aladdin no#23 kerosine lamp on a flee market for a mere €4.50. I felt lucky but did not know yet that it needed a new wick and a new mantle, and some kerosine of course. So now I’m another another €35 down the road but today the wick came in and I got it working. The output is a bit less than the LT1 but it looks pretty (and makes me feel a bit “prepared” :party: ).

That looks like one of the lantern we used to have when I was growing up, it always came handy for we had lots of power outages.
Got a code for LT1 and placed order on Amazon.ca, no tax was charged.

The short version is:

1. Get a usbasp device, a ribbon cable, and either a SOIC8 clip or a pogo pin adapter.
2. Install some free software.
3. Physically attach the adapter, and run a command on a computer or phone.

Can Hank’s flashing kit for the D4v2 be used or will a different pogo pin adapter style is required?

Has this been answered yet? It looks like the programming pad layout is similar but I’m not sure how that works.

So finally I got some lull so I was able to make the mod to the LT1 so that it charges from USB-C to USB-C.

It is doable but it isn’t easy

Cable works in both orientations. I have tested with only one AC adapter but it the one that obeys the USB spec so it should work with any that does so too.

I have charged from 3.9V to completion and there doesn’t appear to be any issues, couple of minutes before the green light the cells were about 4.172V

I have taken one picture but frankly this isn’t the best of my work. And the pictures don’t show much

Been here since the beginning with #93, 110, 111, 112, 141 among others… I still haven’t been able to order a unit, hopefully Sofrin gets the order process dialed and everyone on the list receives theirs. Love all the work that has been put into this product and can’t wait to pickup several.

Contrary to some accusations, I am not dismissive of folks like you who have seemingly been “skipped”. If there’s nothing wrong with your account’s PM settings, then you should have already had an LT1 in your country or in your hands . I would contact Sofirn, perhaps by sending a PM to Barry or something.

I want to thank Barry for posting useful updates and information about the Group Buy, but someone should also be responding to individuals like yourself who have neither a PM nor any clue why not. I’m not expecting perfection, but something is amiss when #900 lanterns are being shipped while a few #9 or #93 buyers haven’t heard anything at all.

Communication is the key and if Sofirn believes that the member was sent a PM, then they could post a response in this thread to let the member know that there’s a problem and that it may not be Sofirn’s fault.

I have no doubt that you will get eventually your lanterns at the Group Buy price, but you and the others in your situation deserve some attention from Sofirn so that, at the very least, you would know what happened and what they plan to do about it.

People who demand to receive their LT1’s before Christmas when no such promise was ever made are not at all the same as patient listees at low digits who simply want to know why they have received no communications at all while folks close to the #1000 mark are placing orders. This situation would have been unlikely if we were using the planned, BLF-operated PM system.

I received an initial single use code for a lantern only, but due to the problems with ordering, by the time that it was available again via Amazon, the code had expired. I responded to Sofirn and let them know and was told:

“Thank you for enjoy the lantern and your patience. The next batch will be avaliable around 15-20 days later. And we will pre-order it around 5-7 days. And then we will send another code to you to order more. Thanks again.”

I’m not in a rush at all, my concern is that they’re under the assumption that I already ordered one in the initial batch, which I wasn’t able to despite having ~ 8 reserved in the first 500, and I didn’t receive a code for Lantern + batteries. I’m not mad or even annoyed, and I fully understand the logistical nightmare a project like this entails and am perfectly happy to wait as long as needed.

My only concerns are that people like me receive all the lanterns they signed up for, and it appears that some, like myself weren’t able to order but Sofirn is under the impression they have and still others never received codes in the first place.

Again, a big thank you to all involved in this project, I’m extremely excited.

I have checked sofirn account messages. A single-used code was sent to you in the beginning of Nov. But you asked for 10 units.

I am sorry to tell you, for now, you can only buy 1 unit. You will need to wait to buy the rest 9 units.

Barry, thank you for the response. I tried ordering, but the amazon link was no good due to all the problems that were occurring with the first batch. I tried ordering, but wasn’t able, and by the time the amazon link was live (I admittedly didn’t check daily), the code had expired. I’m fine with ordering one at a time, but I’d like to get at least a single unit in this next batch. I appreciate all the work that everyone has put into this and am very patient and in no rush.
