FW4A and HL3A interest and discussion thread

Interested!

I would be interested in a 21700 version of the FW4A, if it will happen

Hum, I’ve been thinking about what people are saying here, the desire of a FW4A with 21700 body.

It raises me some questions, and I will present them to help me deciding if I am interested or not in the FW4A with 18650 body, or if I would support the idea of a FW4A with 21700 body.

So, assuming that we will use a 21700 cell/host:
a) would we have more efficiency and more runtime with 4 leds instead of 3 leds?
b) would we have a “lot more” or just a “little more” heat with 4 leds instead of 3?

My questions are honest and are due to some things:
If the efficiency is lower (?), if the runtime is lower (?), if the heat is higher (?) with 4 leds, do I still want a 4 leds head even if the battery is bigger ?

Please help me answering these questions !
Thanks in advance!

Interested in HL3A.

Interested in HL3A

Interested both ....

Interested in the H3LA.

Very interested in both, but with preference to FW4A.

HL3A looking good, I’m interested as long as pricing is good and has the same tint options as the FW3A.

You totally missed out it should/would/could be 25%? (dunno if that’s correct sorry) brighter - quite an important part really.
I’m not at all concerned with efficiency really but I don’t use mine for prolonged stints, and I’m not convinced it would be massively hotter (I am a long way from being expert) but I do have a S41 quad already, and that doesn’t get massively hot, less hot that the FW3A at any rate. I still love it years later.
Maybe if they do the quad they’ll put a copper slug in lol! or, don’t bother with an ally one, just do one like an ally/copper FW3A.

Interested in HL ! Hope it will be smaller and lightweight as FFPL47 ...

a) Straight mathematically, it will have more runtime with 4 leds 21700 than 3 leds 18650. Efficiency would probably be lower on high levels - probably.
b) I think a little more, 4 leds mean bigger and heavier head and MCPCB, better heat dissipation.
So it is what I think:
Lower efficiency at some point, higher runtime, more heat (but more lumens mean more heat) with 4 leds.

Ahah, no, I didn’t miss that, but that was the “obvious” for me, that the output would increase  And, of course, wanting powerful lights as we do, that is something we cannot neglect

But I was more “concerned” about efficiency and runtime in this case and the heat production. Of course, if they do this, they must add, at least, thicker MCPCBs for even better thermal path. Still, it will be hot!!!

Most of these questions are due to my “subscription” for the FW21 (triple with 21700), but also the dilemma between this FW4A and the Emisar D4, that is already a pocket rocket with 4 leds.

So, I will decide what to do and see what the wallet allows me. If a Quad FW21 appears, I will probably get it, but maybe I will skip this FW4A.

Martin, please remove from the “interest” list for now!!
I’ll keep on looking to this, though

BTW, please be warned that the aluminium bezel will probably scratch easier than the SS bezel using the double sided clip and the 18350 tube!! Just saying

Yes, but 21700 x 4 will still give longer runtimes than 21700 x 3? This is the part I am really not sure and want to clarify in my head :zipper_mouth_face:

Right, better heat dissipation for the higher amount of heat as well! I hope that some extra meausures are taken to manage that extra heat!

Thanks for your answer !!! :+1:

I’llskip this obe for sure. Only 21700 is acceptable for quad if you ask me.

instead i got D4V2 Ti.
