*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

I responded with a request for code with batteries the second I got my original code. I didn’t receive a response and by the time I tried to use the original code it had expired. I think there are probably many of us in the same boat that haven’t been able to order off the initial batch.

I just checked PM’s today and got a message from Sofirn with a code. Responded and asked for a code for the LT1 and batteries. They responded in a couple hours and I got the light ordered.

Your logic is flawed.

It’s not about the cable. It’s about recognizing that ‘proper’ USB-C power bricks and cables are becoming more and more common and having to keep an older style cable and charger on hand will slowly become more and more annoying. Is the mod annoying? Definitely. Is it worth the effort for some of us? Defintely.

I’m glad to read the rest of your post though. Hearing unbiased reports of how well the lantern works just makes me want my order numbers to come up faster. :+1:

I received my code :email: but I want the green one, so I wait?

Have any colors been confirmed for production yet?

Colors are not confirmed. With that said, some of the discussed colors are almost certain to appear as Sofirn has expressed interest, but it might not happen for a number of months depending upon how well Sofirn can manufacture LT1’s and how many they continue to sell after the group buy is fulfilled. Right now I’m sure that they are focused on producing black LT1’s in relatively large batches in order to satisfy the existing demand (i.e. us).

I’d accept the black lantern if you want one right now, but you are of course free to wait until colors appear sometime next year (if they appear) as I’m sure that there will be tons of sales and coupons for the LT1 over the next year or more.

The above are my impressions and opinions from following this thread, so take them with a grain of salt. Any or all of it could be wrong.

I’m on list for 3 pcs, I recived code for one pcs, whats next?

I suppose it supports a candle flicker mode?
How’s thermal regulation?
Which standard of programming pads does it use?

received my first code, thanks!

Not sure what you mean

The most difficult part of this this mod is that is small.
Smaller than what most of the hobbyist are used to, but not undoable

If you deal with anything but shady backyard electronics where your “soldering” skills came from sweating pipes at your uncle’s house or splicing wires in your can chances are that you will have something that will work to do it.

You know what I find hilarious is that some (including you) went through the effort to line up your bail with the switch.
Don’t yuck someone else yum just because you don’t like it.

I knew that usb c power delivery was gaining ground fast vs older charge protocols, but to a point where someone would struggle getting access to a regular usb A port? I wouldn’t thought this were going to happen so soon, not in 5 years at least.

AFAIK this lantern will charge with every single charger that is not power delivery exclusive and provides any voltage (within the input range) by default, no matter the cable. By default I mean if you connect a USB C meter to it it will read 5V. Almost all of the flashlights with dumb input works this way (no coding chip just a DC-DC converter). I haven’t received the code yet to test myself so I could be wrong.

Just got my code.

At check out it says promotion code not valid or words to that extent

Yes I am choosing the right lantern with out batteries.

Anyone else having that problem?

USB-C is a physical spec. It is effectively defined by the connector and the fact that the hardware (connector and cable) can support at least 3A of current at minimum. PD is just ones and zeros flying about.

You can have USB-C chargers that are not PD. And it gets more confusing from there.
USB-C power meter need some power to run itself to it so it terminates the cable properly to get 5V. Same thing as USB A to C.
On USB-C there are no 5V on the VBUS until there is a pull down on the CC lines.

For me it is mostly a convenience thing. My tech replacement schedule worked out in such a way vast majority of things are USB C now. Phone, headphones, entertainment. So now if I go anywhere all I need is one charger and one cable to rule them all. Including the LT1
So actually, at least for me, finding USB-C chargers and C-to-C cables are easier to find as compared to A to C cables.

There was a power cut yesterday so I did not reply PM. I sent a code for LT1 with battery later, please check your inbox.

I sent #1372 in the group list. If any of you before 1372 still don’t receive code, please send a PM. I will reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

Make sure you go to Amazon.com

I tried Amazon.co.uk and it didn’t work, but worked fine on .com

I sent a re-request for a new code with batteries also.

I am 893, 1277 and 3019 on the list.
I did not receive any code.
I will to buy on eBay.

PM sent.

This information is GREAT !!!

Now everyone on the list up to #1372 will be able to order 1 Lantern and after everyone on the list has had a chance to order 1 Lantern Sofirn will go back over the list and send codes to anyone wanting more than 1 Lantern.

Of course Sofirn will have to let us know if we will be able to order all the Lanterns we have on the list or just 1 at a time.

Great job by Sofirn on building a Lantern that the GREAT Team at BLF after much time and effort had Designed.

I was #62 on the list but have #377, #1047, #1048 and #2541 on the Wait List.

Hope to see some colors before the end of the Sale.

Good job Sofirn and Lan Lee! Nice recovery and follow up.
