Drop.com $20 off - Lumintop Copper/Brass Tool for $10 - Discount not available as of 12/10/19

No, a $10 refund plus keep it would be more appropriate. Store credit is worthless to me, I only joined to get this, I highly doubt I’d ever use them again after this either.
There is no defending sending out the wrong item, then expecting people to keep it or return for refund (but not be able to offer the correct item at the same price). It’s not even in stock to reorder even if they did grant us the original $20 voucher back, and the $10 one.
It’s not just a ‘little’ difference either lol Also- $2+ of that $10 is the shipping which WE paid for! so it’s actually only $7+ credit, and when we order something else, we’ll have to pay shipping again, so another say$3 taking it down to a mere $5 actual credit.

Just received an email saying the item was back ordered and cancelled.

I guess they didn’t expect a spike of orders from a single item and realized $10 for a lumintop AAA wasn’t a good sell for them.

Unfortunately, the $20 coupon is lost. But you can create a new account and there is another coupon valid until Dec 3rd. Only brass and CW emitter available

The 219c is pretty green anyway

sour grapes

lol

when life gives me lemons, I make lemonade

I was going to remove the 219c anyway
I have plans to install a 219b

good idea
someone should take you up on that

I also got the email. May try an emitter swap or be up for a trade if I get the cool white.

you just cost me 10 bucks… lol
thanks a lot

Now Im stuck with a brass tool I need to mod
first world problems

I dont even want brass… and surely dont want cool white
anybody who wants to trade for copper… any LED, lmk

sheesh
slippery slope

I need to step away from the buy it now button… lol

I got the same led mix up email. That’s exactly what I thought if I dont get the Nichia, I’ll just put one in it and do the low resistor mod while I’m there.
.
I tried going with a 3k resistor for low a few days ago and its to low. Lumen tube with Extech LT45 reported about .15 lumens. 1k was reporting around .5 lumen.
I’m thinking around 1.5k resistor would be about right for moonlight for me.

I’m somewhat tempted to purchase the aluminum one with a Nichia, and swap the innards of the head with the copper one. Then probably gift the aluminum one to someone…
…But then I feel like I’d be just burning a lot more money than I originally set out to spend.

That’s a really bad move from them. They should send us the right flashlight and let us keep the wrong one (as the $10 coupon is useless). Also, the refund doesn’t include shipping and will ruin my $20 new user coupon (under their TOS, it’s unauthorized to create a new account to get it once more). I also paid more to pay for the USD currency conversion which isn’t going to be compensated…
I guess I’ll dispute it on Paypal because I want a full refund shipping included and never have to use their website ever again (especially since it’s out of stock)

If there was a way to resend it and get the right one I wouldn’t even complain, mistakes do happen. But here, they are deliberately screwing us with all their coupon and forcing us to buy more stuff on their website without even given us back the discount we originally had

Me thinks they pulled them for sale to allow time to inspect and re label the inventory, then they will return for sale after which time the original victims (customers) have been flushed out of the pipeline.
No way they sold out of both versions at the same time.

However it should be noted, Drop.com is not the maker of these lights, it is Lumintop who has screwed this up the same way about 2 years ago with the Titanium Tool.
Have one and it sits where it belongs, in the box.
They just put the wrong SKU label on the package, box clearly says Cree.
Think it was sold through BangGood but could be wrong, regardless the seller took sheet for it and they were not at fault.

If the maker would just have a low power UV light that the flashlight has to pass under before at time of labeling it would be very easy for workers to realize which is which.
But that makes too much sense.

I’ll reflow something into mine after it shows up, it’s close to being here, but now I could give a rats azz when it comes. Not like it’s the only copper nichia tool in the house so no big loss really.

Later,
Keith

Hope the LED board can be removed. Have some SST20 boards left from C01S’. Not as nice as the Nichia, but better than this Cree.

OK, I had an email back from CS this morning - looks like we will be keeping the $20 sign up voucher too, so $30 credit IF you return it, at their cost, or keep it and have $10.

’This is Brett with Drop Community Support. I will be assisting you with this issue today.

Upon checking our warehouse, we found that we do not have any inventory to dispatch a replacement, which is why this was not offered as a solution. Our business model is based on group purchases, so we do not have the ability to procure individual replacements from the vendor at this time.

You would be able to receive your $20 credit back as well as the full refund if you decided to return the flashlight. It does indeed look like your flashlight is still in transit. This update email was sent to everyone who had ordered the flashlight regardless of if they have been delivered yet or not. As mentioned in the email, if you receive the incorrect flashlight and decide you would like to return it for a refund please do reach back out at that time.’

Mine is delivered today. The emitter is clearly marked, not sure what caused the mix-up. Thinking of I should open it or not. Happy Thanksgiving!

thank you,
my plan use cheaper clip from pen with diameter around 14-15mm

sorry poor english

Open it and see what’s inside.
I still hope that mine is not mistakenly marked (I ordered the Cree version). The tracking number is not functioning.
When did you ordered yours?

I ordered the nichia. At this point, I really don’t care what I receive. If it’s xpg, it’ll be brighter… It’s my first copper.

So, I’ll keep whatever I get and take the$10 credit if it happens. :innocent:

I ordered the Nichia. Package just arrived. There are no marks on the anti-static vacuum bag that contains the light, but the plastic “case” has paperwork with “Cree XP-G3 LED” checked.

I loaded an Eneloop pro and initially thought the switch was DOA. I jumpered the tail and confirmed the LED was cool white (with a larger yellow halo around the hotspot than normal, which I don’t particularly like). I’ve since read that a capacitor in the electronic switch needs to charge for a few minutes, and it’s working now. The literature says Click to turn On/Off; “Press” to select L-M-H. But I need to double-click while On to change modes. UI has no memory, it starts back on Low after about 2 sec off.

Rough measurements:
Low: 26 lux (0.02 A), Med: 82 lux (0.19 A), High: 440 (1.52 A)

If I keep this, I’ll definitely need to decrease the brightness for Low.

These measurements are with a AAA Eneloop pro?

My cooper light is still in transit. I got the $10 off email and just used that to buy a aluminum version since the discount is email specific and can’t use the $20 off on a single aluminum version if I created another account. Came out to $15 with free shipping. That completes the tool AAA collection for me. I had the brass and natural titanium version already. Now if someone could just find a good deal on some eneloop’s, I’d be set.

Yes, but rough like I said. Ceiling bounce with an uncalibrated smart phone app; lux not lumens. Stock probes on my cheap multimeter.

The light is growing on me, perhaps as it’s getting darker. I wonder if my other Crees don’t show as much of a yellow halo because they lack the AR glass that this one has…

Is it possible to put a forward clicky in this while keeping the titanium button?

[quote=argolite]

The yellow halo is from the XP-G3, because it has a LOT of tint shift across the beam. An XP-G2, 219b or 219c wont have that.

No, eSwitches dont have half presses, so no forward clicky option. The mechanical switches on the Lumintop Tool have half presses, but they are reverse clickies. With the eSwitch we just have to use multi clicks to advance modes.
