I have not had any problems with Sofirn. My own assumption for my 11-11 Sofirn order is the number provided is an internal tracking number - because I just received notice from USPS that my items are now in the US and soon to be on my door step. I have two separate orders coming from Sofirn and both are making their way. Another none BLF item is not scheduled to arrive until just before the New Year. It takes a while to get items from China and that is clearly stated when you order - usually 2-4 weeks, most often 2-3 weeks.
Because is dishonest to assign fake tracking numbers and also dishonest to orders you cant fulfill and leave the customer hanging thinking its going to be sent within a reasonable time
Lumintop or even liitokala for example had stuff that were sold out during 11.11 and you couldnt order, rather than sell stuff that wasnt in stock
So either you receive it on time, or you get your goodies for free. Is that such a bad deal?
Does anyone order stuff from China expecting quick delivery? I’m used to 3-6 weeks wait, and if I get it in 2 weeks, that’s a surprise.
If you need guaranteed deliveries, check out Fedex International Priority Weekend delivery or equivalent. I was shocked that a company sent me an item from 4000km away, delivered in 24 hours on a Saturday. But it probably cost them $100.
I have 8 Sofirn lights and they all work reliably. I bought them through Amazon, AliExpress, and most recently through eBay; obviously the shipments from Asia took a few weeks to arrive. I have emailed Sofirn customer service on several occasions with questions; they have always emailed me back within 24 hours, their responses courteous and to the point.
“I ordered a blfs36 on October 20. Messaged them as few days ago saying wtf. They said “dear it’s been out of stock. We will ship next week “
Do not order from them spend 10% more and get from amazon.”
Personally I don’t care about their inventory status as long as they fulfil their contract to me. Meanwhile some patience doesn’t hurt.
But speaking of stock, I noticed on 11.11 that they were playing with the stock numbers to consistently show low stock, and when I thought it would be gone, more would “appear”. So who knows what they’re up to…
You are doing exactly what you are implying the original poster has done. You are making assumptions and throwing around terms like ‘knee jerk’ & ‘false accusation’ despite not having actual knowledge of the specific situation. I understand you are trying to help, but your tendency to insert yourself in situations is at times counterproductive.
Edit: I was originally adding my current experience here but others continued to post so I moved it to a new post…
They are christmas gifts, right before the auto cancel deadline i messaged sofirn and ASKED THEM if they needed more time which i was willing to extend
I also pointed out that i needed to cancel the order if they couldnt filfill it in reasonable time
Next thing you know right before the autocancel deadline, everyones orders were suddenly marked as “shipped”
When its “shipped” you take them at their face value assuming that the carrier will pick it up soon
To help give a better understanding of what people are talking about, I’ll share my current experience (this is the first time I’ve posted about it) that seems to fit the situation that others are claiming.
29 Sept - Order placed for an SP10S with the Sofirn AliExpress store
30 Sept - Email received from Sofirn with tracking # LW697078302CN
24 Oct - Received a message from Sofirn (on AliExpress) stating the package had been shipped “several days ago”, and the delivery date (the date when you can file a dispute) had been extended. Tracking # LW697078302CN
30 Oct - The tracking number provided by Sofirn does not show up in EMS (or any of the 3rd party trackers) as valid. Contacted Sofirn to check on status of order. Received message saying the ‘tracking information would be updated in 2 days’.
19 Nov - Received another message from Sofirn, almost word for word copy of the 24 Oct msg. Package shipped “several days ago”, delivery date extended. Same tracking #.
22 Nov - AfterShip now shows Tracking # LW697078302CN as “Expired”. Package Mapping shows the label as being created on 1 Jan 0001 with no further updates. 17Track shows no record of it. Contacted Sofirn to inquire about the situation.
25 Nov - Received a screen shot from Sofirn of a tracking progress result showing a package had been received at Chicago on 23 Nov. Looking at the top, the tracking number did not match the one I had received as recently as the 19th from Sofirn. Replied to the rep asking about the discrepancy.
28 Nov - Received an image from Sofirn showing the shipping label with my name/address & the ‘new’ tracking number. Searching the new number it was entered into the system on 2 Nov & received by the processing facility on the 3rd.
Now, this is absolutely shady from a business standpoint BUT at least in my case Sofirn did follow through with the order & the package was been shipped (hopefully it’ll arrive in the next couple of days).
By and large those of us who have been around this hobby for years are pretty laissez-faire when it comes to receiving items from China. We understand the issues caused by distance, language, cultural differences etc and we take it in stride. If Sofirn had been upfront with me when I contacted them on the 30th saying it was back-ordered, and then let me know on the 2nd that it was now on the way with a new tracking #, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought.
