Sofirn Aliexpress Store added some stock in US, Poland and Russian

Personally I don’t care about their inventory status as long as they fulfil their contract to me. Meanwhile some patience doesn’t hurt.

But speaking of stock, I noticed on 11.11 that they were playing with the stock numbers to consistently show low stock, and when I thought it would be gone, more would “appear”. So who knows what they’re up to…

You are doing exactly what you are implying the original poster has done. You are making assumptions and throwing around terms like ‘knee jerk’ & ‘false accusation’ despite not having actual knowledge of the specific situation. I understand you are trying to help, but your tendency to insert yourself in situations is at times counterproductive.

Edit: I was originally adding my current experience here but others continued to post so I moved it to a new post…

Note that this “tracking number” was supposed to be generated 10 DAYS AGO, and is supposed to be ePacket

Also note that all my other 11.11 good shipped via the same shipping methods have updated tracking numbers that exist

Ok that’s weird. If you don’t get it by the delivery date, I’d expect you’d get a refund. Though I’d be miffed about the interest-free loan.

Do the other orders’ tracking numbers show up on CanadaPost?

They are christmas gifts, right before the auto cancel deadline i messaged sofirn and ASKED THEM if they needed more time which i was willing to extend

I also pointed out that i needed to cancel the order if they couldnt filfill it in reasonable time

Next thing you know right before the autocancel deadline, everyones orders were suddenly marked as “shipped”

When its “shipped” you take them at their face value assuming that the carrier will pick it up soon

Turns out its a fake tracking number

I have already had my lumintops delivered and ALL the others are tracking properly … something like 8 seperate orders

Ok, well thanks for reporting. Curious to see how this plays out. The internet is not kind to sketchy practices.

If you check my post history you will see that i am a BIG FAN of sofirn lights up to this point

Especially the sc31b which i believe is the best beginner light

Sofirn, if you are listening, DONT play these stupid games on aliexpress

You are the first store ive seen actually generate FAKE tracking numbers to prevent auto cancel and stop the customer from cancelling their order

DONT say its shipped when it isnt, and DONT sell items you dont have in stock

You cant do this on amazon (when they fufill it), why do this here???

Dont think your customers wont notice or speak up about it

Oh and please cancel my order, ive lost all confidence in sofirn

To help give a better understanding of what people are talking about, I’ll share my current experience (this is the first time I’ve posted about it) that seems to fit the situation that others are claiming.

29 Sept - Order placed for an SP10S with the Sofirn AliExpress store

30 Sept - Email received from Sofirn with tracking # LW697078302CN

24 Oct - Received a message from Sofirn (on AliExpress) stating the package had been shipped “several days ago”, and the delivery date (the date when you can file a dispute) had been extended. Tracking # LW697078302CN

30 Oct - The tracking number provided by Sofirn does not show up in EMS (or any of the 3rd party trackers) as valid. Contacted Sofirn to check on status of order. Received message saying the ‘tracking information would be updated in 2 days’.

19 Nov - Received another message from Sofirn, almost word for word copy of the 24 Oct msg. Package shipped “several days ago”, delivery date extended. Same tracking #.

22 Nov - AfterShip now shows Tracking # LW697078302CN as “Expired”. Package Mapping shows the label as being created on 1 Jan 0001 with no further updates. 17Track shows no record of it. Contacted Sofirn to inquire about the situation.

25 Nov - Received a screen shot from Sofirn of a tracking progress result showing a package had been received at Chicago on 23 Nov. Looking at the top, the tracking number did not match the one I had received as recently as the 19th from Sofirn. Replied to the rep asking about the discrepancy.

28 Nov - Received an image from Sofirn showing the shipping label with my name/address & the ‘new’ tracking number. Searching the new number it was entered into the system on 2 Nov & received by the processing facility on the 3rd.

Now, this is absolutely shady from a business standpoint BUT at least in my case Sofirn did follow through with the order & the package was been shipped (hopefully it’ll arrive in the next couple of days).

By and large those of us who have been around this hobby for years are pretty laissez-faire when it comes to receiving items from China. We understand the issues caused by distance, language, cultural differences etc and we take it in stride. If Sofirn had been upfront with me when I contacted them on the 30th saying it was back-ordered, and then let me know on the 2nd that it was now on the way with a new tracking #, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought.

No, I’m not making assumptions, I’m just asking for proof. Sorry if that was not clear.

I just see the same old posts over and over again, it’s frustrating. :weary:

Trust me I understand. Just remember that we’re all on the same side.

As the community has exploded over the past few years it’s brought in a lot of new people who yet to learn a lot of the lessons we picked up long ago.

Also worth keeping in mind that much of the ‘unfriendliness’ some of us saw at CPF came from similar frustrations on behalf of the old timers there.

Maybe it’s time we thought about putting together some FAQs to help people new to the hobby navigate some of it’s quirks.

None of these worked

Actually the $2 one did. Guess I’m just too late

I was told Tracktry is great, and I have to agree.

Agree with 17track. Another one I’m using is https://postal.ninja/en which is as good.

This one is pretty good. Gives next step estimates based on previously tracked packages.

I use https://www.packages24.com/

So they are now doing the exact same thing to me trying to send me a NEW tracking number, the original one was just a fake

Of course the new one does not exist yet either

Nice list of tracking sites!

Package Mapping says the same about my tracking number that has results on other sites.

I should know better than to jump in, but…

I ordered a GTmicro from Lumintop at AX, got a “LP000…” number which did track up until “arrive at destination country”, then fell off the grid. USPS showed that code as (gah, forgot how it was worded) they got notice but are still waiting for the package, not even “label created”.

A few days later, it showed up without notice. Old sticker with the “LP000…” code was on it (still not registering at usps.com), but a new “927…” code was assigned, and the new sticker slapped onto the package as well.

So codes do get changed midstream, once they hit stateside, whatever/whenever.

And in the past, I’ve had tracking numbers with zero information from start to finish, but eventually received them fine, and yes, with that tracking number right on the package.

So yeah, I learned to hope for a legit tracking number, but sometimes they don’t work, and the goodies still arrive.

And even offa Amazon, eg, I ordered something, long gibberish “tracking number” but with notice to contact the seller for more info, so I did. “Please to not worry, package will arrive, trust us!” Wellp, okay, it is Amazon after all, so I did. And yep, it did arrive, right about on “schedule” (“arriving between X and Y” notice).

I’m still amazed that such small crap can be shipped halfway across the planet for so cheap. Keep that in mind.

Lightbringer Ah, so I’m not the only one amazed by modern shipping! Most seem to be unimpressed or take it for granted. I don’t have a problem waiting. All is well that ends well.

Your experiences with tracking numbers mirror mine.
