Lens like the Lumintop B01 has: shines down on road for bicycle

The Lumintop B01 has a lens that shines down onto the road like a car headlamp.
Can these lenses or modules be found somewhere separately?
Looks like this:

I doubt it, it’s not just the lens the whole reflector works different (exactly like a car led reflector headlight).
The led is mounted at the top which means the shelf in the head of the light has to be designed at the top and ~90° rotated from normal, not the typical flat position like 99% of flashlights.

If I’m wrong someone point us both towards a source, I’d like to DIY some bike lights too!

Yes:

and they can be found here:

And i want 1 or 2 too !
But, they’re listed as 10pcs/lot for € 27.10 (free shipping).
I haven’t yet contacted the seller to ask if i can buy only 2 pcs, but maybe he will do it, or maybe we can order 4 pcs or even 10 pcs together?
(your name is Dutch, so maybe an idea?)

Yes, it is a reflector.
Judging by the picture of the Lumintop B01, the lens is just plain glass or acrylic without features.
It seems the reflector i linked is exactly the same as in that Lumintop.
At least it’s the same shape, but it may be a different size though.

Good find!
I guess they call that a 9D lens?
There’s lots of complete led lights with “9D” reflectors.

It has been on my wish list for a long time.

No idea what it’s called.
It’s specifically for bicycle headlights, i think.

I have seen smaller ones.
That store has smaller ones too.
But this one seems like the perfect size to me.
Do you live in NL?

Is there any advantage of this design vs “elliptical” TIR lenses? Sharper cutoff or anything?

Yeah, the light only shines downward (spill) and forward (beam), preventing blinding cyclists.
…that is, when you point it slightly downwards, which used to be law, but nowadays it seems anything is allowed…

I don’t know.
Found this pic though:

^^This is an important quote; I have the Lumintop B01 and I use it every day for nighttime riding… unfortunately, you cannot just switch this reflector into another light you may have: the LED comes from the top of light’s head, and not the middle. So if you buy the aliexpress reflector someone linked above, you aren’t going to be able to wind it onto a convoy or emisar light.

Well i’ve not got much experience with the ellipitcal TIR lenses, but this light does prevent oncoming joggers/riders/drivers from being dazzled, however the cutoff isn’t very sharp, and the light itself isn’t very bright, and worse it’s easily outdriven by an E-bike with only ~700 lumens on turbo.

I have been asking about a decent bike like on this forum for years and never have any good responses. Acebeam’s got a 4000 lumen bike light but it doesn’t look like it’s going to make production… its been advertised for quite some time.

What i have decided on is using the Lumintop B01 as a “low beam”, and then when there isn’t anyone in front of me to annoy, i turn on a Emisar D4S on turbo, which has sufficient throw but lacks in sheer lumens. Sucks about having to ride a bike one handed, with only one glove on, working the switch on the D4S with the other hand. And even still i’d like to have 4-6k lumens and not 1400.

What would be really nice is if someone could AutoCAD up a design for an anti-dazzle, bicycle type reflector that fits a Convoy L6 XHP 70.2 and then have china produce them, as that light with a Lexel driver can do 6k lumens continuous. Even still there are problems with mounting the light; I did use this light last year (blinding every person i encountered) with an expensive RAMMOUNT setup and the light shook over the poor quality trails, which wasn’t very pleasing.

But frankly I’d be willing to pay ~$500 for a light that:

- runs off the E-bike’s battery or has a removable battery pack with lots of capacity

- has high beam and low beam

- has handlebar switch for activating high beam

- low beam with minimum 1500 lumens in an anti-dazzle pattern

  • high beam with 5000 lumens (continuous) with no more than 200 meters of throw in a somewhat anti-dazzle pattern (I don’t need to illuminate birds in trees above me but i wouldn’t care if i dazzled others)

Of course.
My bicycle has a dynamo in the front hub, capable of generating a “whopping” 0.45 Amperes at 6 Volts, around 2.5 Watts.
AC current, of course…
So my plan is running an XHP50.2 either after a full bridge rectifier or by splitting the AC in two and drive each 6V section with half the sinus (then you only need 2 diodes in stead of 4).
Smooth it off with some electrolytic capacitors and generate a steady 400+ Lumen.
So i’m not gonna use a flashlight host.
I’ll get or fabricate an aluminium box to mount the LED board and put the reflector under it.
So in my case it will be a dedicated fixed bicycle headlight, somewhere between the front wheel and the handle bar, as usual.

Ah, yes…. The e-bikes…
Why do modern vehicles all have blinding cold white light anyway?
It should be banned.
But how come the B01 is only 700 Lumen on turbo?
