Astrolux A01

Thank you

The old driver had 3 modes: a very low firefly, a low of less than 10 lumens (7?) and a high of a 102 lumen rating (a strobe mode was also present after the high one, but only accesible by cycling twice).

How is the newer Astrofux A0½ in this regard? I took the liberty to rename it for a better reflection of its current level of quality/commitment to the original design. :-D

:-)

Agreed. The C01S feels more secure in the hand, looks better, and works the way I expect. I actually like high-low versus low-high, so I’m happy with the Sofirns. The Astroluxes feel like a waste of money by comparison.

I just got my Fasttech 14 mm lens. It’s too large but barely, a couple of minutes of filing and it fits.

How about thickness? It ok in that regard?

AO1.—— C01…
just look at them.
One is a mini (ugly) water pipe with a led in the end.
Mini S2.
NO style. Form. or factor about it.

The other is a Pure, Artistic form with light
the perfection of Nichia in the end of it
One of the nicest, well balanced lights on the market.

Not that I’m biased much.

I like water pipes.

The A01 which is being sold now has a driver which leaves to be desired. And while I do not know what emitter they're using, I've heard in the grapevine it also is not what they're claiming or used to be. If you can deal with this, fine. I don't. I prefer to play “grab bag” elsewhere.

It’s much thicker than stock. I actually didn’t screw the light together yet so I don’t know if that’s an issue. I will report back.

There is no question that the body design of the A01 is awesome. It has one of the best form factors of any key-chain light I’ve had.

The A01 used to have the 219B but has since switched to the 219C or maybe something else. The middle mode has PWM. The UI isn’t great either.

If you could put the guts of the C01 or L-H C01S inside the body of an A01… now THAT would be amazing!

Glass thickness is not an issue. The fasstech lens works fine.

Cosmo.

I have several early ones. Lovely natural light.
2 x later ones, Don’t know if latest led.
I only use on high. Basically the light is brighter and colder.
Looks more like a cree output than the old 291B Nichia.
Maybe a C. It’s a different colour.
They run the 10440 cells fine, and when I give them away
they go with AAA cells.
Same as the Singfire/BLF 328?’s
With them, I have hospital fibre tape round them
so they not slippy in grip.

C01 dies when used with Li-ion.
I much prefer PWM to AAA limit.

I just ordered a purple one from Banggood. Checking the site out and happen to land at the page. Looks neat and I like how the name sounds. Astrolux……sounds like a sci fi character for a movie or something. Pretty kewl! Nichia too and quite good output for a little guy.

Yeah nice looking light. So nice that I ordered a purple one. I know that 10440 will give better output than regular AAA but is it a big jump? I would just like to use regular AAA for this little guy.

no this light doesnt work with 10440.

Mine does. And it’s indeed much brigher.

are these still including the next mode memory UI?

They still have NMM and also are Nichia 219c NOT 219b as they falsely advertise.

Conversely, I don't care much. No one tried it with a LiFePO4 cell, by the way.

I much prefer no PWM, that type of modulation is 0K for inertial devices like tungsten bulbs or magneto - electric converters (electric motors) but not for leds.
