MTN-17DDM squeals like a pig when amp juice is flowing

I wonder if it is a bad FET, since there is no inductor on these drivers.
Just put together a set of the 20mm version of this exact same thing and so far, no problems with these little mini-monsters (XPL2-HD and XHP50.2-3V)

What host and LED you using BTW?

It would about have to be the PWM in the fet. Possible the PWM frequency isn’t low enough or bad fet like KnHawke said.
Which firmware did you choose?

I’m using bistro.

I’m no expert here but it might be worth a try. Changing between fast and phase correct pwm might solve the problem. I don’t know which one you have now.

Adding a resistor in series to the gate or lowering the frequency may help. But I have used this type fet+1 driver (blf x6) with a triple pulling similar currents without whine or ringing as they call it. I used NarsilM made for e-switch.

Usually mechanical move able parts make the buzz like cables or springs, it’s hard to eliminate if you can’t pot the whole light

Not sure if I’d trust an object that’s advertised as a ‘cube’ if it’s only 1cm x 1cm x 0.5cm. That’s either half a cube, or four conjoined cubes.

True, don’t use these, they are not labeled absolutely correctly.

Do the mtn-17ddm and 20ddm drivers support high current (10-20 amps)?

I want to say Yes to that, since looking at how the parts are laid out by the direct bypass of the positive line and the very short negative traces near the edge of the board, but I have no equipment to measure the XHP50.2 I have here and going by Vesture’s readings of the same LED, I could be pulling 13 amps.

These (2) 50.2 3v builds draw over 20 amps some builds 30+ amps…on a 30T using Mtn Drv’s…4800-9000lm

29A is incredible, what battery do you use to get that?
