Help with S43S copper version

I purchased this light from Banggood for a Christmas present last year for a dear friend of mine. It is a tradition of mine to outfit him with decent flashlights (relative to walmart lights). the problem is that the micro usb charging port has lost its anchor and is now pushed into the light. my friend is very aware of how delicate these things are treats all of his tools appropriately. is there any hope of repairing this? Banggood has been very responsive but believes it to be cheaper to buy a new one rather than send it back to China. Does anyone know of a possible solution or repair shop? many thanks,

Ken

Unless you’re good with electronics and can fix it yourself, it probably is cheaper to just buy a new light. Forget about a repair place; they’ll charge you twice the cost of the light just to look at it!

USB-C makes things a bit more robust, but it’s only becoming common on new models of lights. No more trying to cram the plug into the micro-USB port the wrong way every time you try it. :frowning:

The Astrolux S43 only comes with the micro-USB option.

You could always keep the light yourself, and recharge the battery in an external charger. Or he could do that, if he’s willing. I find most people don’t want to charge batteries in separate chargers, except battery geeks like me. Gotta have a plug on everything, now.

thanks, i have given him plenty of lights so he is used to charging the batteries. he thought it would be an easy matter to have them repair it, he just sent a Nitecore headlamp back to Nitecore and they repaired it for free, shipping was around $10 and the turnaround was under two weeks. guess that is the route to take, i bought it for $29 shipped but since then it has gone up to $39 plus shipping for new.

I don’t think Banggood actually repairs anything, they’re mainly a retailer. Astrolux is their brand, so there’s nowhere else to send it.
