1xAA light with sst-20 and TIR?

Hey y’all,

As my title suggests, are there any AA tube lights in existence or in the making that utilize a high cri sst-20 4000k with a TIR? I don’t know of any. As I’m rather an ignorant newbie In the area of flashlight technicalities, there may be a good reason why a light like this doesn’t exist.

I like my aa tool 2.0. I also like my C01S a lot, which got me thinking, why not a AA version of the C01S with a clicky switch?

It may be difficult to compete in the saturated AA market but I think it would have some cool qualities

- shorter than tool aa due to TIR vs reflector

- clicky with an optional magnetic tail cap for less length (blatant tool copy I know)

- high cri and nice 4000k temp

  • plus, if sofirn, to offer it in their red or blue would be sweet.

I would love to hear if there is a light like this, or of reasonable explanations as to why there isn’t…

Thanks

Nothing comes to mind but the L3 Illumination L10 might be the closest. Its a 1xAA reflector with the Nichia 219. VERY compact with a nicely balanced beam tipped towards spot.

Generally, single TIR vs single reflector doesn’t save you much length. And Carclo triples/quads are much too wide for AA/14500. What you’d really need to save length is an integrated driver/MCPCB.

I have an Olight copper S1A that I have been thinking about dropping an SST-20 4000k FD2 into. The only issue is that the TIR is designed for and XM no XP led. I am not sure how the beam would look.
