*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Or, at least some representative samples of what the color will look like.

Depending on the actual colors, green(olive/forest) and orange could be great. Splitting off some threads for an interest list for colors and issues and such, and linking them in the OP might help keep this thread from greatly exceeding semi-gargantuan, and sounds like a good idea if they actually get used instead of everything still being posted in this thread. lol :person_facepalming:

If there’s a tally, add me: I’m planning to wait for colors for some of my remaining numbers, but also would be interested in an un-anodized, etc., version as well.

I agree. Maybe Barry could post something coated with the actual colors from the factory that does the anodizing. It doesn’t even need to be a flashlight. It could anything made from the same type of aluminum so we could see what the color shade and finish would look like.

I would prefer to see an example and not just a Photoshop of the colors before committing to the list if they start one. The tan is supposed to be a flat finish, but I was thinking the orange and the green were going to be anodized which looks much better than the flat paint look for those colors.

I received a code a while ago because I am somewhere between 1000-2000 in the list but never used the code because I’ve been waiting for an orange lantern. Will my code still work or will there be issues? I really want something brighter than black so I’m willing to wait for it.

I was told by Sofirn that the code will be good thru December……

I am unsure how long the codes last or if they expire, or will work for the later batches. maybe Sofirn or Barry can answer that.

I received more than one code for my three early spots under 500 back when they started sending them out, but since we were asked to only order one, I only attempted to order one LT1. I figured that getting multiple codes was probably an error, and either the code would still be honored once we are able to order more lanterns, or codes will be reissued if they expire. Regardless, I didn’t have any problem waiting a bit longer for something so worth waiting for. After nearly 4 years for this project to reach this point, a couple more months so everyone on the list can get one before I purchase my remaining spots was not a big deal at all. It also helps ease the impact on the bank account.

Since it was promised that everyone on the list would be able to purchase their lanterns at the group buy price, and reading this entire thread over time, I am confident that there is good will at work and with patience, things will be taken care of and made right eventually. What a great reward for being patient is being embodied in the absolutely wonderful example of a LED lantern that is the LT1!

Thanks very much to everyone involved for all the hard work, you have much to be proud of!

BLF member GreenCampfire has been doing some good run-time testing of the LT1 lantern in factory configuration with graphs, the testing can be viewed here: BLF LT1 Runtime test *updated 12/11 with step level 2*

I cannot use the code. It says
Ptomotional code cannot be applied on my purchase

Since the codes last through December, does that mean that the codes won’t work for the colors in Batch 3 or we would be issued new codes instead? Thanks!

Send Sofirn a direct message with your code issue, they should be able to fix that issue.

I am unsure of that, Sorfirn or Barry can answer that hopefully.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but its the LT1 supposed to thermal throttle? I forgot to lock out mine and it turned on inside my backpack, after 2 hours when I picked up the bag I noticed it was warm… the head of the lantern was too hot to touch and the batteries and carrier were warm, even my L21a that was inside was warm too.

Maybe it was too much heat to handle? Should I calibrate the temp sensor? Again sorry if this is normal in a closed environment like a backpack, I really like the lantern and would be sad if it burns itself down lol

There is no thermal regulation in the LT1.

At room temperature without cooling or air flow, the LT1 with all chips enabled eventually reaches 62 degrees Celsius on top which is hot but a very safe temperature.

In a closed environment like in a backpack, if switched on at full power, the LT1 will get much hotter of course, but as other flashlights, it probably can handle well over 100 degrees Celsius before damage occurs. Given that too hot to touch already starts at 55 degrees, there is quite a lot of headroom there before things really go wrong with the light. So your LT1 will probably be alright, but of course that can be different for the other stuff in your backpack.

Next time locking out your lantern may be a good idea?

Understood Thanks for your answer!

Yeah will do! I have learned my lesson with my SP36 but since it is the first time I throw it in my backpack, I completely forgot to “4Tap” :person_facepalming:

I still haven’t bought the first one.
I have the code but I prefer to wait for the orange version (at ebay).

I haven’t purchased the first one either. Probably not going to. Not that it isn’t a great offering at a great price, it is, just that there are other lights I would prefer and CAN’T BUY EM ALL!

Is it too late to get a group buy code for Amazon? @sofirn

You should PM that user directly. I don’t think the board is infected with ` automation.
