SF22 Big Flashlight Host for DIY

Hi BLFers who love DIY,

Sofirn found SF22 hosts stayed in the corner of warehouse for a long time, maybe some of you guys will like this host for DIY. I'm not faimilar with what DIY host has.

It seems usually no need of emitters and driver, but other parts with shell. But I'm not sure. Anyone can tell me about what you usually need for DIY?

I will find the BOM sheet of SF22 and offer the all the parts you need.

Review can be found on BLF, such as https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/46762 by DB Custom;

Well, you need a good driver and MCPCB with LED emitter combo so you can Do It Yourself

Hosts or DIY kits are usually sold to people who want to make their own light with LED’s or drivers the manufacturer does not produce

The difference between a host and a full flashlight is only that the host has no leds and driver. Optionally it can include a side switch or a MCPCB. You are doing it right with your C8F 21700 host.

I guess the MCPCB of this host is a non-dtp aluminium so not made for high currents. You could mention the driver size.

I already bought this host on your website. If you happen to come across some other hosts I would be interested. :sunglasses:

Here is the picture of parts

So are the hosts available for purchase? And if so, how much?

Ooh, that looks… pointy!

Ditto, how much for the beasties?

It looks like the spikes double as retaining screws for the bezel holder. You could probably replace them with some M* bolts for a less stabby look.

$19 at SofirnLight.com.

Barry - From the listing at SofirnLight.com, it looks like the tail switch is not included. It might help to list which ones you offer that will fit and whether they are forward-clicky or reverse-clicky.

Edit: also, it might help to tell what the size of the emitter MCPCB is used, and a picture of the included reflector. From the description the reflector is for 5xLED?

Lots of info in the link to Dale’s review that Barry provided.

If a person was pretty crafty with a lathe and drill press you could make a nice copper pill and mount 18 small copper mcpcbs to it, put in a good driver, and have a monster of a light.

It has switch. All these but driver and leds. But you might be lucky to get whole parts of it.

a thicker copper DTP MCPCB should be used for a good light

also a nicer driver getting MOSFET+small current resistor MOSFET 8.4V input to 2S/9P

Ultimate self-defense flashlight?

This must hurt like hell if you got smacked on the face by one. :smiling_imp:

“Nah, not really.”

I wanted to see what kind of led and driver combo people went with this host. I just recieved mine and I wanted to see what options there were.
