The black 5500mah ones? There was some discussion recently in the HKJ review thread about them- I didn’t quite understand it, but you can read for yourself. There’s a link to the aliexpress Shockli store too.
Now we are making a promotion of Shockli 14500 1000mAh battery from Nov 25th to Dec 3th in our aliexpress store , you can get
additional $1 off using the coupon code L8P2H9204M1A.
According to PowerLongBattery in China the manufacturing of the PLB55-A cell underneath the shrink of this battery has been discontinued. This is quite some disconcerting news as this cell is known to have the best ratio between capacity and discharge performance. Apart from Shockli, Keeppower was known to be a large volume customer of this PLB55-A cell, too. I think I can speak for all of us BLF'ers here that we are worried about the future of the 26650 battery format in general and that it would be nice if a comparable 5.500mAh - 6.000mAh cell in this size was still manufactured and sold over the next years.
I recently bought an L6 and am therefore currently in the market for 26650 batteries.
The offer here in EU is very poor, with most of the stores I know having stopped selling those or are constantly out of stock and seemingly never restocking.
Shipping by air is also starting to look problematic (as almost nobody ships by air due to strict regulations) and when you add the L6’s recommendation for protected batteries and height smaller than 70 mm, I am really worried about my investment. And if it’s hard to obtain the 26650, demand for them will be reduced and the whole future regarding 26650 becomes questionable.
Sure, I can always use a smaller 21700 with decent capacity and discharge, but I will always be at some capacity loss and I don’t like the idea of the battery not touching the aluminum body via which it also cools itself…
sorry for the later reply, happy new year 2020.
Let me answer your some questions
1. the PowerLongBattery 26650 5500mah has been discontinued, The inventory of the factory is also out of stock. I have confirmed with their sales staff that they do not plan to produce 26650 5500mah batteries recently. PLB company told me that if there have more demand for the 26650 5500mah later, they may also re-produce
If they re-produce, I’ll let the BLF members know as soon as possible
2. Banggood sells SHOCKLI products that are genuine and can be bought with confidence
3. Shockli company only has several hundred stocks of 26650 5500mah. .If PLB company does not continue to produce 26650 5500mah batteries in 2020, I suggest using the Shockli 26650 5250mah battery or another brand 26650 instead. The Shockli 26650 5250 has a 500mah less capacity than the PLB 26650 5500mah and will last 10% less work time, but the discharge current is the same.
This is just like the iphone is the best phone in the world, but samsung and huawei brands also have many users, the experience is worse a little than the iphone, but It’s good to use, the price is cheaper.
Secondly, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this detailed and prompt reply, it is greatly appreciated!
Unfortunately, your post confirms the suspicions I’ve had for past several months and it seems the future of the 26550 batteries in general is currently pretty grim; I understand the reasons, but, regardless, what a shame.
The “Vapcell INR26650 5500mAh (Red) 2019” recently tested by HKJ shows very similar lines on the discharge graphs. I dunno if it’s based on the same cell.
Good afternoon Simon, I would like to purchase the 14500 1050mah - 10A batteries in orange. I saw the tests and got interested … I currently use the 14500 660mah - 7A. I would like to buy 04 units but I can’t find them, and currently there are almost no more shipments to Brazil … can you help me? Thanks and greetings
