Emergency Preparedness

I don’t think your being particularly honest. Although Poland does have a low incident of earthquakes, various parts of Poland have had six just in the last year. Additionally, Poland has a vast history of warfare. Poland can and does have harsh winters with snow in many parts, usually from November till March. Add to that regular storms and about 16% of the total forest fires in Europe. People get flat tires and they have their homes broken into.

Any and all of these things are topics of discussion on the SEP board i.e being prepared to avoid or mitigate an emergency situation though personal preparedness. Could be as simple as carrying a spare tire and a pair of sneakers in the trunk to tossing a mylar space blanket in the glove compartment.

If you don’t think common sense personal preparedness is a good thing, or of interest to many people then I don’t really understand why your posting in this thread?

My dad helped free Poland from the Germans, I helped free Poland from the Russians, Poland does seem to have disasters even above nature and weather, plus, I hear that history isn’t over, which is a part of preparedness.

You said that much nicer than I would have. Well done sir.

My next door neighbor is a well known polish fella. He’s close to a definition of what a prepper is, and he’s happy to be living in the states where he feels much more secure after having personally worked with the USA to free Poland from the USSR.

For myself, I woke up the other day in the early hours not long after midnight, The power was off everywhere and a strange stillness was in effect. I thought to myself: ” you dumb mother fu**er, the US Dept of Homeland security announced just a few months back that all US citizens should prepare for 2 to 6 months with no power. At the time, it didn’t make headlines and didn’t cause a stir but I reflected that I’d suspected that they had actual evidence of a huge issue about to hit the country. Yet I did nothing more or specific to this cautionary tale (I’m close to fully prepped, more than 95% more than my fellow citizens anyway). I was later relieved to learn that a drunk had smacked a power pole and the whole area was out. Whew. But yet this issue and the DHS warning remains in the background:

I suppose we all can’t live in a stable country like Poland that has no threats or potential issues.

Thank you sir.

On it; great site.

This looks like a nice forum. I am gonna check what they have under first aid. First topic: essential oils.

Me: :weary:

You’d be surprised at how useful essential oils can be

Thank you sir.

Essential oils are great! I use them in my Levoit humidifier. I particularly like Sweet Orange, Lavender, Ecalyptus, Tea Tree…
What oils you use DeputyDade??

Campers and backpackers are way ahead in the prepper game no matter what happens, if we are prepared for living in the outdoors then we can survive in our own homes, kitchen, and bedrooms for awhile, even in the worst of winter.

Being a camper/backpacker also gives us an excuse to buy a lot of prepper stuff that we can justify as camping gear.

I just want to get ready for this! YOu never know...

That is a really alarmist article. The report itself appears to recommend adopting 14 days of food and water as the standard for state and federal individual preparedness campaigns. They say a “catastrophic power outage of a magnitude beyond modern experience” could affect up to 75 million people for 2-6 months, but that’s one step removed from the complete collapse of society, and most people are not going to prep for anything like that. The report is certainly not evidence terrorists are about to take down the United States power grid for half the year.

I use a LOT of different one’s including blends. My personal favorites are Ylang Ylang, Wintergreen and Lemon Grass. I’ve had good success with blends as well:

Yes, yes it does!

You know the old saying, “Those darn zombies aren’t going to kill themselves”.

Kinda cool, I was recently thinking about making a big pelican case filled with emergency stuff in case of an earthquake or flood.

On the ‘old’ SEP board we had a very long running thread on exactly that i.e. BOB’s/GHB’s/EDC’s. Had discussion, links, videos and a wealth of information. That was a popular thread and we’ve started it again.

What is a BOB, GHB or EDC and why would you want one anyway?

As it progresses again it may give you some helpful ideas of what to put in your case.

Wow, what a brave soldier! How much russians did you killed during such action?
Bloody action. Did you risk your life? Bullets whistled over your head?
You do nothing up to time, when USSR collapsed itself. liberator…

Yes I did risk my life, I went back into the military and served in NATO when I saw that Reagan was taking on the Communist empire that had enslaved Poland and so many other peoples, freeing Eastern Europe and Russians from their Communist overlords was a long and deadly process that reached success during the late 1980s early 90s.

I’m proud to see a free Poland, I’m sure we all share happiness in that result.
