2020 - looking for 14500/18350 EDC recommendations

I gave away my Lumintop Tool 2.0 due to cool white tint. Having spare 14500/18350 cell, Im looking for an EDC pocketable replacement.

Required features:

- budget priced

- simple userface, preferably with mode memory and single click to off, so I can borrow it to others occasionally

- side or rear clicky switch that does not turn on easily in pocket

- neutral white 4000-5000 K, high CRI would be nice but not a must

- decent mode spacing

  • has a clip so it can be fitted to baseball cap

It can be also a 18650 light with short tube. Looking for your recommendations

Sounds like you were really close with the Tool AA V2.0, you just needed the warm/neutral Nichia version (apparently out of stock now at most shops).

I recently got the ThruNite T10 II and I love it. I got the CW version but I see they are sold as NW as well.
Ticks all your boxes and for $20 you can’t go wrong.
My other preferred small lights are:
Klarus Mi7 - decent power but I don’t like the UI so much.
Klarus XT1A - amazing light but too large for 14500.
Also none of them has NW afaik.

Skilhunt recently released the M150 in NW and HiCRI (LH351D) versions here

The M150 looks nice.

That’s quite nice.

Is it just me, or does it look like an Olight?

I really dislike the “wave” mode sequence of the M150 - very similar to the Folomov 18650S, which I returned because I didn’t like the UI.

Get an S2+ with a shorty tube. Infinitely moddable, can be fitted with a TIR lens (flood to spot, your choice), ask Simon when ordering and he can pretty much make it to order (LED, driver, UI).

Hint: The generic XM-L2 in 4C tint behind a TIR lens is quite nice, “warm sunlight” I keep calling it. And the new colors as well as the old standbys (teal/violet/orange/red/green/blue) all have shorty-tubes as well.

Sofirn SP40. It’s a 18650 flashlight but comes with the 18350 tube right in the box. It fits all of your requirements and you will get a really versatile flashlight for many different uses.

Skilhunt M150 - it has Olight built quality for under $30. UI is not perfect by usable.

Do you have a code that takes it under $30?

the Thrunite T1 looks really promising from specs, very bright, simple UI, tiny size and usb rechargeable

I got mine at introductory price without battery.

Well, other than the fact that it doesn’t meet many of your criteria, the ON THE ROAD i3 Mini Zoom looks intriguing. Does anyone have either the i3 or u16?
