Negative experience with NealsGadgets

Ahh yes forgot about illumn. Some lumintop items can also be found on Amazon and are Prime with 2 day shipping. But many Chinese brands do not have a US seller that I am aware of.

Huh? Are you serious? Thereā€™s plenty of threads bashing Asian sellers like 192led, Aliexpress, Liitokalla, gearbest, bangood, etc. You can probably find just as many praising them, including people defending Neal. Iā€™ve had both good and bad experiences with most overseas sellers. It mostly seems to depend on what side of the bed the service chatbot got up.

The good thing about the bigger Chinese marketplace sites and ebay is that they maintain seller ratings and reviews, and most sellers fight to be over 90% positive. Now imagine if NG was on one of these platforms instead of being an independent site. What %positive do you think Neal would have as an ebay rating?

Some of the Chinese sites will delete negative reviews, or at least some of the negative ones. So, I donā€™t completely trust weā€™re getting the whole pictures. Also, I really donā€™t trust Amazon reviews, since thereā€™s so much shilling going on there. Ebay may be more trustworthy, at least for their reviews, certainly not their sellers. Iā€™ve had only about a 50% success rate with ebay sellers, even when I stick to 95% or greater positive ones, so Iā€™m not sure what to make of their review system. Could just be bad luck on my part?

But, yes, I get your point. Neal probably would not have a high positive rating. If he was selling on a marketplace, heā€™d have to ship out orders promptly, which is probably his biggest failure.

No, his biggest failure is not responding to people when there is a problem.

EXACTLY!

There is another guy on here like that. At the moment I am refraining from starting a thread about him. He is not a dealer, one who does group buys and has completely been irresponsible, unresponsive and has disappeared from his responsibilities since December 23rd.

Other than that 99% of the members on here have been very helpful and gone out of their way. Especially the fine gentleman from Ohio who modded my NI40 for basically nothing. :+1:

Maybe Neals a gambler? You know he is quite close to Macau. Maybe he'll roll the dice and pick an order to play with?

Iā€™ve had parcels go missing , you find the more you order the more can go missing , I just write it off , Iā€™ve had great tracking for one laser light , went from china , to turkey and stayed in turkey , Iā€™m in finland , it was actually two parcels from two different companyā€™s that went at different times , few days within each other and both went to turkey , and stopped then , no more tracking

So like a few others have said , stuff does go missing in the post , this is not the sellers fault and as distracting as it is , the sender can not give insurance for missing post , unless you ask for insurance , and registered post etc

My own experience only here

The problem is not so much post going missing but itā€™s his lack of communication when things go wrong ,when you need him most he goes silent.

The sender is responsible for it, if you pay with paypal or most credit cards. Yeah, it sucks for the sender, but thatā€™s something they have to agree to if they use paypal or a similar service.

You donā€™t have to file a claim if you donā€™t want to. I havenā€™t always filed claims for missing stuff (if itā€™s cheap enough), but my likelihood of filing a claim goes up if the sender doesnā€™t respond to queries. Sometimes, Iā€™ll just leave a bad review if theyā€™re a 3rd party seller on a site like Amazon or Ali. Thatā€™s sometimes worth more than a few bucks.

The last claim I filed on paypal was for something around $2. Totally not worth my time, but the seller was obviously abusing the system (maybe even a fraud) and p*ssed me off.

on ebay u are fully covered, if package goes missing or not arrived u will get full refund usually, same if u buy from Neal, he is responsible like it or not if u paid with paypal u are covered in case something goes wrong.

So iam another unlucky customer.
Ordered x9 amutorch usb and he sent me magnetic oneā€¦never again this seller. Hes total amateurā€¦and not seriousā€¦what to do nowā€¦

We need to organize something where we have a thread and a seller is emailed from, say, 20 of us: ā€œRESPOND TO [X]ā€™s EMAIL PLEASEā€ and basically threatening to boycott them if this sort of thing happens. We give them a certain amount of time to get the issues straightened out. Iā€™m serious.

Yes. Boycott him. Exactly.

I ordered an FW3A from him as well as some other parts, he was quick to answer my first inquiry about shipping and he said he would ship it that day, but I havenā€™t heard from him since and I still have not received a confirmation if my items have been shipped or not. It has been two weeks.

Update: I just asked him to cancel my order. The refund and email reply from him was prompt this time around.

Also I have a question why on nealsgadget is advertised free shipping for orders for over 50$, in reality when I want to make my oder I still charged with 6$ shipping fee. There is only discount from shipping cost not free shipping. It is free shipping is only for certain countries?

I agree. Iā€™ve had excellent shipping to the UK on two FW3 lights, but no response to the missing battery that I paid for. The website is badly organised, I could have bought the Alu version with the extras cheaper if Iā€™d noticed a package deal, but ended up paying a lot more for the glowy cap and gasket.

maybe changed due to the corona situation worldwide now i dont knowā€¦ .?

My experiences with Neal and Nealsgadgets have been excellent.

  • Everything I ordered arrived with no issues.
  • Shipping is usually quite fast. Even the free shipping is fairly fast to the U.S.
  • Neal has responded to all my inquiries that were sent by PM on BLF. I did not receive a response to emails, but he does respond to PMs on this forum.
  • Excellent choice of products on his website.

Highly recommended seller. One of my go-to shops nowadays.

Good for you then put that in the relevant thread and you may have got lucky in him replying to pmā€™s on here as Iā€™m still waiting from one sent last December.
