Bad battery - now photo appears - maybe just depressed positive terminal.

I got my 21700 battery order but by the time I was ready to charge the batteries I forgot where they came from. I had one battery that was different from all the others. It had a light blue/lavender wrapping with no markings. When I tried to charge it it wouldn’t read anything on the charger. After about 40,000 tries and no success I actually looked at the battery. There’s a plastic ring around the positive terminal preventing it from connecting with anything other than a 3/16th or longer spring or spike. It’s the battery on the left. Is there any easy way for me to fix this? Thanks.

I am by no means a battery expert but, I have never seen the positive end of a cell look like that. It looks almost unfinished. Like a step was forgotten and just covered with a wrap. Strange. Can you get any readings on a DVM/DMM? If so, verify which end is positive and add a small magnet so it may make contact with your charger.

I’d be interested in seeing the other end of the cell. I am sure someone will come along and provide much more insight than myself.

The other end looks like every other battery - flat with some wrap over the bottom. Good idea about checking which is positive. I’ll dig up a meter somewhere.

Are you 100% sure that is the positive terminal ? Looks like the negative end.

That’s because you’re not noticing the plastic ring, which holds the + terminal ‘bump’ in place, just like the normal battery to the right.

As I mentioned before the other end of the battery looks like every other negative end of every other LI ion battery - flat with a small rim of wrapper around the edge.

Okie-dokie then…let us know who the seller is, so the rest of the community can avoid the trouble.

Thanks.

Chris

Vapcell had a post here a while back showing batteries like that. I believe they had aluminum terminals so solder blobs could not be used. They were good, high capacity cells, but hard to work with. Meant to be connected in packs with spot welded connections.

Just toss it into a light that can use flattops and it should be fine.

Something like a WK30 would be able to charge it, too.
