I don't see the connection between quantity and shipping cost

By making 2 separate orders, shipping is being charged twice. If shipping charge is higher than actual shipping costs this means profits for the seller.

^{Interesting theory}. On 2 of the orders I selected “no tracking” and there was no freight or shipping of any kind added but they tacked on .32/cents for insurance. One the remaining 3, I selected UPS postage and they added .78/cents on top of the .32/cents.

Are they still getting the US taxpayers to pay for shipping from China to the US? Even if that is still the case, Charging $1.10 on 3 orders for shipping and insurance hardly qualifies as getting rich by not allowing you to order 5 at one time and charging you $5.00 for shipping and handling.
