What did you mod today?

Removing F from H17F

:smiling_imp:

CRX DQG Titanium 10180, 10280, 10440 Pocket Charger/ Spare cell carrier.

This titanium spare cell/ pocket charger, being modular can carry and charge 10180, 10280 and 10440 cells.

It has a 100mA charge rate.

Made from a DQG titanium pill capsule & extension pieces plus a charger unit from a 10180 rechargeable flashlight.

The section with the brass rings can be removed & used to extend the laser to use a 10440 cell and the remaining sections will still house the other 10280 cell that the laser normally uses.

This is made to accompany my:

CRX CuTi Osram PLTB450B 450nm 1600mW - OFBD 1.6A - 10280 - Mo Tail Sw - 1600mW Laser.

I also made another couple of wee titanium gadgets for my keyring.. :)

CRX Titanium Magnetic Extendable Keyring Pen

.

CRX Titanium Magnetic Extendable Keyring Toothpick

Nice stuff CRX! Have you already seen your designs nicked and produced in China? Maybe start the CRX Gadget Company.

It was sort of the other way round this time.. :D

I always had the True Utility telescopic pen but wanted a titanium version, then I saw the toothpicks when searching.

I think I did invent the worlds smallest extendable titanium ferrocerium rod though :)

Since I had another Luminus SBT-90 Gen 2 to do something with, I modified my scratch built 124mm reflector light, DBC-07.

A write up on it HERE.

So now it’s the largest BLF Q8 ever! lol

And it easily hits a hay barn at 1.02 miles distant…

I tested it with Samsung 18650’s, both 35E and 25S, it makes from 4300 to 4800 lumens and a quick 5M test (too close I know but it was still daylight) shows 1.71Mcd!

Edit: Worth mentioning that the beamshots here and on the write up were done using the 35E cells at lower output. I have new 25S cells arriving today… the ones I tested with have been, well, Ham’red!

Today I put a Oslon HX Boost HL in my GT Micro. I had bad luck getting a good focus, but it still more than doubled in throw compared to the XPL-HI NW.
It out-throws the FT03 with 50.2.

Before with stock XPL HI NW:

After Oslon HX Boost HL mod

I think that’s the HL.

Yes, Boost HL.

Another Jet II MK. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my very first reflow

Some time ago I modded my C8 (SMO to OPR and XP-L Hi to XHP50.2, A6 driver) and was left with a very nice XP-L Hi U6-4C MCPCB. Now this LED resides on the original board of the Jetbeam. I’m really proud  .

Edit: Yeah, I see it’s not centered :weary: :person_facepalming:

Looks good to me Unheard. Congrats on your first reflow!

Thanks  . Now I know why I ordered some 219B  .

Mine was worse. Congrats!

TrustFire Mini-08 Electronic Tail Switch.

An amazing mod CRX!

Modded my new Tool AA V2.0 Ti:

  • Reflowed a Luxeon V2 5000K
  • Added a bleeder resistor (stock tailcap works ok without one, but not my custom tailcap - it needs a dependable current path). Used a 0603 footprint 750 Ohm resistor stacked across the main capacitor (see the yellow circle in the picture).
  • Swapped the black tailcap for a very light green GITD one (link). The only problem with these is that they don’t have a “nub” inside, so you really need to press in order to activate the switch. To address this, I put a dab of clear silicone caulk in it and let it cure. Works great now. This lets a TON more light through than the stock black tailcap.
  • Stripped the stock illuminated switch board, which is a similar set up to the Convoy add-on illuminated tailcap that utilizes a clear plastic washer to let the light get to the tailcap (albeit, somewhat inefficiently).
  • Installed a battery-monitoring tailcap. It has 4 LEDs that extinguish one by one as the battery drains down.
  • Attempted to strip the gold clip, but failed. After a 30 minute bath in a strong lye solution, the coating didn’t budge at all. It probably is real gold plating. It’ll stay for now. I’ll probably either just remove the clip or grab a stainless one from another light.

Nice upgrade gchart. Is it 10440 or 14500?

Oops, it’s AA / 14500. I just updated the post.

Nice and skillful mod, gchart. :sunglasses:

That battery-monitoring tailcap is incredibly genious. :open_mouth: I will try to build one. I need this on my flashlights.

That battery tailcap, kinda want.
