7th annual Old Lumens Flashlight Modders & Builders Challenge (EDSG hand Made)

Hey, welcome to the contest and good luck with the build!

Don’t forget to announce it on the main thread

All the best Chris. Hope you have more luck with fingers than I do. :+1:

:+1:

I will confirm that it is ideal to use a VERY SHARP and well-planed chisel for any joints you want to make with wood. I’m terrible at it. Take it from the guy that taught me how to use chisels. He told me to avoid using chisels because I’m so clumsy. I rather keep my fingers :D. Good luck with the build. You’re doing fine. I suggest you use a wooden brace and 45-degree angle cuts to fit your wooden frame together. You already have a miter box, which should really help with cutting straight. It won’t be as pretty as a dove-tail joint, but it should be much easier to do with what you have.

Thanks lads!

Thanks for the extra info i will buy a mitre saw, Last time my straight edge worked but i had more room to move on bench. Even if i do a butt joint like last time i have a belt sander i can use to round the edges. I thought fancy edges would look nice.

Careful. I don’t think belt sander is on the list of approved power tools uou can use for the hand-made section.

It is on the list of acceptable tools but we do prefer good old elbow grease for hand made

Thanks for the correction

How did I miss this one? Good to see you entering again EDSG :+1:

Because like usual i am bloody late lol!

A few minor updates.

Looking real good Chris.

Good to see more progress. :+1:

A few more updates.

This is coming along nicely Chris. Has your drill press got a laser centre finder on it?

Thanks Moose.

Yea it has a laser but i never aligned it and i don’t know if its straight lol. Its only a cheapo Aldi drill press.

In this pic it looks close but ive also had holes not work great.

Novel. Not heard of that before.
I have been thinking Chris that it is really nice to see how you have improved immensely in your torch building and modding skills over time. It’s a real nice feeling. Keep it up mate.

“everydaysurvivalgear” Good job :+1:
We are looking to see more

Does any one know how much copper i would need so i don’t fry the driver?

If i have the driver connected to the pill as it is. Will that help heat sink it or make it worse when the LED’s get hot?
