ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Xiaomi Youpin launches Trident tactical knife in China for 158 yuan ($23)

"Xiaomi Trident tactical knife":https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/23/xiaomi-youpin-trident-tactical-knife/

The Trident tactical knife consists of the main knife body, a tactical sleeve, and a tactical umbrella rope. It measures about 235mm in length while the blade length measures 98mm, offering a thickness of 4mm and weighing at 232 grams.

The company adds that the knife is made up to 440C Stainless Steel and has a titanium coating. It has three different kind of blades — tooth, cutting, and chopping. It also support one other functionality — bottle opening. Further, the company says that the tail hammer of the knife can break the glass, which can be helpful in a situation which needs escaping.

As for the ergonomic design, it comes with a K10 composite fiber handle having a non-slip pattern. It also has a three-dimensional grooves for the finger placement to ensure that the grip is tight on the handle.

Anybody here owns EF branded knives from FT? They are unmarked and are quite budgeted. Are they worth to purchase?

EF brand is junk. But for people who dont know knives it might be sweet.

looks like xiaomi wants a share of every market segment, like samsung.
looks very macho, and a total pain to sharpen.

Green Thorn has excellent quality of the Russian Shirorogorov brothers! https://ru.aliexpress.com/store/2128068?spm=0.8937474.0.0.171f2e0edeGw2p

That’s a Hx Outdoors knife, I doubt there’s any connection with Xiaomi.
Anyway I would buy it from this lady anytime!

Not all ef (Eafengrow) knives are junk. Like everything else, you get what you pay for. I got an EF906 for Christmas & it is a serious instrument. They do a lot of clones which a lot of people are apposed to.
My recommendation is to stick to the titanium handled models which start at about $40. Also look for reviews. LTK on Youtube & a few others review many of Eafengrow knives.

I own a couple of EF (Eafengrow) folders and I like them. They are not as refined as a SRM Land 910plus or 9103 but for less than $20 shipped they are solid performers.

I have an EAB & also recommend it.
A while back, my clip broke. I called Gerber & they sent me a new clip right away. It is a compact & extremely useful instrument. The value is definitely worth the cost.

Morakniv also makes a nics chisel/pry knife. As i recall, its about $15.

That’s definitely the coolest G10 pattern I’ve ever seen.

Yep, I prefer metal handles, but that G10 looks amazing!

I normally do as well. I love the Ti handled one and still carry it most often. I was just happy to have the G10 one when I know I’ll be barehanded and wet. The G10 isn’t as thin as the Ti one but it makes up for it in grip. It’s not a small lightweight knife anyway so the extra thickness doesn’t really bother me too much. The clip though is awful. I’ll work on it this weekend and see if I can improve it a little.

I have the Ti handle TS38 but I find the flipper tab is too small. It slips and hard to open when my hands are wet or sweaty.

Too bad I’m not 12 anymore.
This would be a great poster though :stuck_out_tongue:

This really turned out to be a great knife for the price. The machining is excellent. There is a hot spot edge, forward of the cut for the frame lock, but it’s situated such that it’s not in path of normal use. My first sole rear flipper (no other launch method). No blade play. My only “gripe” is that the handle is heavy. Compared to a similar sized Spyderco (Vrango), I’d be happier if the handle was 0.5oz lighter. BUT… it’s a minor gripe considering the price. Thanks again to folks here who encouraged me to buy it! :+1:

I’m satisfied enough that I’ve been able to resist temptation of buying more knives. Until I scrounge up enough cash for a $300~$400 “one time buy” high end knife, I’m not driven to get anything else.

Yeah, I’ve been looking at that Xanadu YX-751….
But I’ve also been looking at the YX-650. It’s $10 more for a Ti framelock.

Edited: because I rushed through your post.
It is a framelock. Some of the Chinese vendors have to picture it that way to be able to sell it legally. Some photoshop it & some have models that just don’t have that machining completed just for these photos.

Anyone in for a Damascus scalpel blade?
