ReyLight copper pineapple mini, AAA/10440 flashlight, Nichia 219B 4500K R9080 high CRI LED

Mine got here relatively quickly (upstate NY) , about two weeks. Great looking light but it’s malfunctioning. Won’t come on unless I unscrew the head a few turns, then works for a bit then goes out again. Emailed Rey but like many in his country it’s vacation time. Anyone else experience this or any ideas on a fix?

Wait for a week for celebration end. Rey will be available only then.

Can you take a picture of the driver PCB? Maybe the ICs are not seated properly on the PCB, or the whole PCB came loose.

Something similar with the unit I received. No LED but the copper heats up with enough clicks.

After about two minutes on 10% mode the light turned off, leaving me in the dark. I tried an AAA but it won’t came on. Re-inserted the LiIon and it was alive again. Cannot reproduce it. It didn’t get hot, there were no mechanical impacts. I can slighty unscrew the head and retighten it, shaking the light, whatever, it works continuously.

I will take it apart if there’s time. For now, it is suspended from its EDC duties.

Shortcut between driver output and copper caused e.g. by solder could explain it.

I don’t have any li-ion in this size, only AAA Eneloop and AAA alkaline. They both exhibit the same behavior...by the way...shouldn’t there be an O-Ring between the lens and the reflector?

The oring between the lens and reflector is gitd so it may be hard to see in daylight.

There’s a GITD-ring.

I took it apart...there is no o-ring anywhere in the head.

What causes the glowing?

There is no glowing...a GITD Ring was supplied in the box it came in but no ring is installed in the head. Could this be causing the odd behavior?

Could be. Mine had a gitd oring in the head already and one in the box. I would also check the the retaining ring is tightened sounds like yours was built at the end of the day.

I think you’re right...one of the body o-rings was missing also...anyways...I installed the GITD o-ring behind the lens, installed the reflector and reinstalled the led module...began working...sort of...it visibly flickers in high mode...rapidly changing output...I’ll mess around some more and see what happens. Thanks all for the help!

Once Rey is back from vacation I’m sure he’ll make it right if it is still acting up.

Yes... no worries here!

Mine worked with an Eneloop fine —- when I went back to try it again that night it wouldn’t come on —tried another AAA alkaline battery nothing — I then tried a Li on cell worked perfectly —- afterwards it worked with the Eneloop —- I didn’t check the voltage — I’m assuming the AAA cells voltage are right on the edge of not working the boost driver properly

Sorry for the late reply. Living in a remote area during the holiday. I can only access the internet now and then. It might be better to pm me incase I miss something.
I will go to the factory and re-check the lux reading when I go back to work.
The holiday was Feb-5, now it is few days longer, because there is a very terrible disease in China, most people wear a mask and stay at home.

Thanks Kevin Manley for the more detailed manual.

Reylight Mini Pineapple Programming Guide

1. Turn on the light.

2. Press the button 8+ times. The light will now blink once, then strobe, blink twice, then strobe, blink three times, then strobe…After 5 blinks and a strobe, the sequence repeats.

a. 1 blink: mode group selection. Press the button to enter this menu.

i. 1 blink: (ML)–2–20–100%

ii. 2nd blink: (ML)–10–40–100%

iii. 3rd blink: (ML)–2–10–50%

iv. 4th blink: (ML)–50–100-strobe-SOS

It then repeats. Press the button during any blink to select that mode group.

b. 2 blinks: mode memory on-off toggle (default off). Press the button during the two blinks or during the strobe after to turn mode memory on. Repeat to turn mode memory off.

c. 3 blinks: moonlight mode off-on toggle (default on). Press the button during the three blinks or during the strobe after to turn moonlight off. Repeat to turn moonlight on.

d. 4 blinks: mode order toggle (default LMH). Press the button during the four blinks or during the strobe after to change the mode order from Low Medium High to High Medium Low. Repeat to reverse the order.

e. 5 blinks: factory reset. Press the button during the five blinks or during the strobe after to reset the light to factory settings.

Just to update...don’t know why or how but after a few on-off cycles and mode switching, the light is working as normal...go figure...

BTW, Rey contacted me via email last night since I had reached out to him when I first received the light...very nice of him during such a difficult time in his country. Very much appreciated!

Stay safe, Rey.
