Do you care about famous people passing away ?

My take is that death is an enemy to all people.
It’s better to live for something than die for nothing- George Patton.

I”m just worried that at some point rich famous powerful people will stop dying (due to some expensive medical discovery).

For the most part, only if I cared about them when living.

I like that answer.

Muhammad Ali

Always wanted to meet him. I should of when he had his training camp in Pa.

I had the pleasure of being born and located in louiville, he came to my elementary school and unfortunately got to be a part of his funeral

About 55 million people die every year so I'm not going to take it personally, but someone close to me will always affect me. The only celebrity I cared about that died was Robin Williams.

He was another good one. We could start a list. Jerry Garcia, Tom Petty.

Here is a short one:

SRV[Stevie Ray Vaughan],dies in a very similar way. In a helicopter, in fog that should have never taken off,

Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix,Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison[even though he was nuts!],Jim Croce, Buddy Holly, John Lennon,JFK…ON and on and on.

I am old enough to remember all of those famous deaths with the exception of Buddy Holly.
Yes, it made me sad, I am human with emotions. At the same time, I have a life to live and focused on the joy they brought and Not the tragedy of their deaths.

When we are consumed by the mortality of others, we lose focus on our own lives.

After thinking about it more and looking at the above two posts, yes, I guess there were much more than I thought. Bothered me when Bruce Lee died so I guess the list could go on and on.

Yeah, I must be a sociopath. I can’t recall ever giving a s**t when any actor or athlete died. My usual reaction is, “Why the *$&! is everybody freaking out about it, and acting like their entire family was just killed. The world will go on just fine.”

Is Still Dead

Sometimes you just have to… :confounded:

Cant accept death of my beloved musicians… Feel that there are no replacements…

If an artist (singer, moviestar, writer, painter, whatever) has been doing things that have really touched you, has influenced you or even has made you make certain decisions in life then it wouldn’t be normal not to care if that person died. Even if you’d never met him or her in person.

EPSTIEN didn’t strangle himself!

A man with wisdom. We will ALL be touched by death and many by death before our death.
To truly appreciate life one must also respect death, its opposite. To experience the death of a
close at heart loved one will grow sympathy for others who experience death likewise.
Let us practice, to make our experiences, make us better, not bitter.

Yeah, and with access to healthcare that us proles will never see.

There’s only two people in recent memory that I can recall were absolute shockers to me when they unexpectedly passed and that was yesterday with Kobe and in 2014 when Robin Williams passed. I’m generally not a “OMG look there’s a famous person” kinda guy, maybe because I’ve been fortunate to know/have met several in my lifetime. But when the ones that I actually watched quite a bit die unexpectedly and tragically, I tend to follow the story for the first couple days following.

If they die due to natural causes, aka old age, it doesn’t bother me. Reference Hugh Hefner, Johnny Cash, George Jones. Even though I grew up listening to Johnny and George and sneakin a peek at my dads ‘hidden’ playboys, their deaths were just another celebrity passing.
