“The common cold” has two “ends” to it - there’s the one where you get a few sniffles (rhinovirus) and the one where it’s almost influenza symptoms, aches and pains, etc (coronavirus). That’s what is it, a bad cold. If you are immunocompromised you might be in some trouble, but if you’re otherwise healthy, it’ll suck but you’ll be okay most likely.
If you’ve ever legitimately had Influeza B and survived, you know what it’s like - 2 days in bed feeling like absolute hell, in a lot of muscular pain - Coronavirus isn’t as bad as this.
Outside of a host (body, etc), I’d give it 24 hours at absolute max survival.
Source: have spoken to my (immunologist) wife about this extensively. It’s all very fun for the media to whip themselves into a lather about this because it reinforces the nationalist narrative agenda.
I don’t particularly want to get it, but if I do, I know I’ll be off work for a little and that’s it. I’ve survived Influenza B when I was in worse health than I am now, so I’ve got no real worries about this.
If you take care of yourself , eat good food , overdose of vitamins when you get flu, in good health , you should be ok
I’ve you don’t then your in trouble
Touch wood I’ve not had a bad cold or flu for a few years , I think I’ve got a nice immune system. Intend to take double or triple the vitamin daily allowance when I had glue or feel like I’m getting flu ,
Don’t get me wrong I’ve proberly had flu in the last few years but I handle it well , still goto work , and carry on as normal , but with good rest ,good food , good vitamins and saunas !
Like a few others have said , I think the paid media are blowing it up , big phama company’s will be lapping it up right now , expect corona virus flu meds in the next 2 weeks !
If we count the thousands of infections( reported by the media), the relationship with mortality it’s not very high. But influence is easily transmitted,
don’t know if Germs survive during shipment, better not buy for a while until is end
I’d touch a light from China today with no hesitations. The thing is hygiene - wash your hands properly before eating anything or putting them near your mouth and it’s sorted.
I think some viruses can survive 48 hours outside the body and on synthetic materials. Ie. Genuine leather should be a way more unhygienic than synthetic leather, as viruses and microbes thrive much batter on natural surfaces compared to synthetic ones.
