Nichia E17A/E21A Skilhunt H04RC Group Buy

Thank you Olles

Yes

Depends on your needs. For all in one general applications where true colors matters, 5000K is best. For color critical, 5700K is the best. For applications when there’s the need to check which white is white, 6500K works best. CW has the most balanced color spectrum although things don’t look as pretty and appealing as under WW.

Price should be the same, but shipping won’t be free anymore

I tested quadtrix E17A and it’s only a tad wider than the OEM XML2 which is too narrow for my liking for a general purpose headlamp. Runners would love it.

Guys, please DOUBLE CHECK your orders! There were some anonymous comments added on other’s column. I tried my best to adjust the listing

Thank you,

Countdown is on! Tempted to get more than 1

I have never been this excited about a headlamp in my life! I bought 2 H04s and 4 other quadrix mcpcbs with different E21a configurations.

I have homes for 3 of my 4 boards - H03, H04 and a Rofis R1 that are sitting in my collection not being used due to ugly emitters.

If I was going to put one of my quadrix boards in a Convoy S3, what driver should I use?

Hi Clemence, paid the rest for my added module. Thanks again!

Looks good to me. :+1:

Comments added and paid!

(Should be 4500K E21A plus two additional E21A modules in 3500K and 5000K)

Comments added (added a 2nd light for Calzoner), and paid.

Thank you again for putting this together.

Woohoo! Can’t wait!

I saw two 4000k in the list. Just want to offer some info for your consideration. I’ve seen both the Tiara Pro with the 4000K D220 an 4000K D240. As a person who prefers negative DUV (rosy) tint, I was very disappointed when I turned on the D240. The tint is about spot on the BBL so to me was a bit too yellow/green especially when compared side by side with the 4000K D220. It did measure brighter in my lumen tube (don’t have the numbers because its my friend’s light). He also wasn’t too impressed with the tint because we’ve seen nicer rosier tint. For this reason I’m mixing the 4500K with 3500K to achieve a 4000K that should result in a similar DUV as the D220 version of the 4000K, which left me in awe the first time I saw it. Also I noticed that mixing CCT seemed to raise the Rg value resulting in more saturated colors. For me, I like the saturated cartoonish color, but some people might think its less realistic. Just food for thought….

SKV89; What do you think of the 3000k + 4500k combination?

I like the higher CRI of the 3000k but considered change to 3500k + 4500k for a bit whiter light. Your experience & recommendation above tips me toward the 3500k + 4500k. TIA

I think it will look great since the 3000k and 4500k are the rosier ones and the larger gap in CCT will result in a very pleasant 3700k or so. But keep in mind different CCT look different depending on the time of the day and how your eyes are adapted. I like to use 4000k to 4500k for daytime applications. In the evening, 2700k to 3500k works well. Then for night time/bedside lights, I prefer 2000k - 2500k to limit blue light.

The farther away the CCT, the more likely the resultant tint becomes rosy (below BBL). 2000K and 6500K is an example. But, we’re speaking about tint here NOT CRI. To get more or less same CRI, try not to mix CW and WW. Because each CW/WW CRI calculated differently, you are most likely to get lower CRI

[Clemence]

Appreciate the further info on CCT mixing. Only interested in warm & neutral tints w/4500k being upper limit. With the 3000k + 4500k I’m aiming for pleasingly warm with great R9 rendition & contrast for night trail hiking. Occasional rescue with hands full & uncertain footing. I will stay with the original plan.

Thanks Clemence & SKV89.

For nighttime hiking, 3500k to 4300k is my favorite. Very pleasing and feels very natural like sunlight. You will enjoy yours!

how could you get 4300?.
what would be that best mix?.
thanks.

UPDATE 200201: All 4000K E21A orders will use different bin from those sold in my store. Instead of sm403 D240 R9080, I will use sm403 D220 R9080. Please let me know if you want to cancel or change the order.

Here’s detailed Maukka’s measurement between them:

LEFT = D240, RIGHT = D220

D240 means minimum 240-260 lumens at 700mA
D220 means minimum 220-240 lumens at 700mA

D220 is rosier (negative duv) than D240 at the same current

[Clemence]

…but your 4000K E21 has been out of stock for a long time already?
The ones i bought at the time were quite rosy though, so i’m confused now…
I did recently buy some 4000K E17 though, and are those rosy or not?
(not that it matters a whole lot to me, i like both)
