As I recall

I agree but I think the configuration needs to be done at the forum/site side. Not the user side.

Have you browsed this forum using a mobile browser on a smartphone? It is not optimal. Text is small and you have to zoom in to make text more legible.

Other forums such as Neowin.net or Wilderssecurity.com have much better formats when viewed on mobile. Compare:

I mean if you are fine with zooming in then you do you. I rather dread the experience. I agree that an app isn’t needed but mobile view can definitely use some improvement.

This?

Oh! Wow! That's pretty disgusting! You cannot even see 3 threads or forum categories listed on the screen!

Believe it or not, I am on mobile most of the time. The above screenshots are taken from my smartphone, which is heavily customized software wise. For comparison purposes, here is how BLF looks in your smartphone (you seem to be running some version of Chrome) versus mine:

So it's not that different. Use zoom. Zoom is good. You can zoom in but, can you zoom out on your above Neowin forum? What is not in the screen, cannot serve you (this is no excuse to fill the screen with hindering stuff like squatter search bars and other sticky things). You cannot be expecting others to serve you what you want, you must make it happen and/or take it.

But yes, I must admit I am a very particular smartphone user. Everyone thinks stuff looks tiny in my smartphone, but I think it looks right. I respectfully despise mobile optimizations, but I cannot think viewing the forum like that Neowin screenshot is empowering at all. What would happen if you couldn't use a desktop computer at all? You would learn to turn your smartphone into a desktop computer as much as possible, that's what I did. Smartphones and tablets are pretty powerful computers but for whatever reasons their stock software configurations are lame.

I’m not a fan of tapatalk either. I rather use a browser with a mobile friendly template. Zooming in to read text gets cumbersome after a while on mobile. On a desktop BLF looks great.

Problem solved.. I use an 8" Android tablet, renders nicely. If I do use my phone (all of my Androids are hotrodded also) I just deal with it and zoom. That's why I use a tablet. (I'm as crazy with tablets like I am flashlights!) Love the things but they're worse than crack.

Those aren’t threads but I understand your point. There has to be a balance between information density and readability/touch and for mobile, this often leans more heavily towards readability/touch.

I think we will have to agree to disagree. I do not find using desktop websites to be pleasant when on a phone sized screen. Particularly if I have to constantly zoom to read text and also to make it easier to touch links.

Yeah, I won’t deny that. I’m sure we’ll eventually upgrade to a new design that includes a responsive mobile theme. But I must admit that it’s not a priority for me, since I personally hate using mobile devices when I have the option of using a real computer.

Fixed my above post, thanks for pinpointing anonymous_user.

It may be hard for me to agree with people who likes mobile optimizations interface wise, if at all. The reason behind is that I've gone a long way becoming accustomed to use desktop sites with a mobile device. I just can't get with a crippled mobile site, some of them may be nice but others blow like there's no tomorrow. If it were up to me mobile sites wouldn't exist. Not only that, even looking at how the Windows interface has evolved regressed to make it more accessible is somewhat disgusting to me.

I also find disgusting the trend of applications who update more frequently than they need to, changing this or that for no good. I can put the blame on the very Android Chrome browser, for example. I think it still is the best overall browser, but I also think whoever is in charge of taking up the decisions concerning what is implemented and what not, needs a real spank in the arse.

P.S.: Stock Android uses stupid animations on menus and such, they are a performance and user experience drawback. To disable them you must first enable Developer options (Settings -> System -> About phone, then multiple taps on build number; use G00gl€ if it is different on your device). Once in Developer options scroll down and find the Drawing section, and just below Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale settings. Set them all to 0. Thank God later.

Getting back to the OP’s opening comments, CPF banned people for any number of ridiculous reasons, but mostly people who didn’t agree with a moderators foolishly contrived opinions. I often read helplessly on CPF as new members asked questions about budget flashlights. They were instantly ridiculed for not wasting large amounts of money on much more expensive flashlights that performed far WORSE than the inexpensive flashlights in question. When the new member asked more about the budget flashlights, they were instantly banned. The vendors who sell items on CPF have to pay CPF money in order to advertise. Far enough, and its their money they are throwing away. But whenever someone mentioned budget flashlights or questioned the overpriced junk CPF vendors were trying to sell, all the vendors jumped in and bashed the person for even mentioning it. Same goes for discussing how moderators were incorrect in most of their assumptions. Even today, when the truth is mentioned about what a vile nazi site the moderators and owner have made CPF famous for, you’ll see the same two-faced cretins who sell their items on CPF trying to defend them here on BLF. Those same lowlifes stand out like a sore thumb and never seem to go away. :confounded:

We’ve discussed having a mobile interface for BLF as well as more robust security features several times. When Mr. Admin is able to do so, Im sure he will. Lets just all be glad he’s not a staunch nazi from CPF!

Thank You Mr. Admin for all you do for us.

Flash, ya always had a way with words
LMAO right now.
Tell us how ya really feel.

 Haha! That would merit an entire thread unto its own!

I agree. When I’m home, I use a laptop. I LOVE a tactile keyboard & using a mouse. I LOVE the big screen. Makes no sense to me to be smearing my fingers all over a tablet or a phone when a superior laptop is in reach.

"ridiculous reasons" " foolishly contrived opinions" "read helplessly" "instantly ridiculed" "performed far WORSE" "instantly banned" "overpriced junk" "bashed the person" "incorrect in most of their assumptions" "what a vile nazi site" "two-faced cretins who sell their items" "Those same lowlifes" "glad he’s not a staunch nazi"

Instead of getting my daily adrenaline rush by walking down the street in a normal residential neighborhood in fear of my neighbors' at large junk yard dogs, I should just simply quit such risky behavior and just hang out in the battlefields of the war zones of flashlight forums.

Goes without saying that its best read in its entirety… so not to be taken out of context. Besides, you have no right to butcher my literary work of art! Where did the cpf manifesto go? :confounded:

Context? The context is so spiritually uplifting. I merely quoted the most spiritually uplifting points.

Seems rhetorical, but if you say so. Why not post your manifesto on cpf? :+1:

I always wondered who are her kids?

Also, I don’t like it when they make you pay to sell your light(s).

I tried to sell a light on that forum , I tried to bend the rules by saying I would like to trade my light for some cash
I got away with it for about two days ,ha .

Love it!! That's why I ignore posts on the kind of lights you mention. I ditto your thanks to Mr. Admin.

In the past, I’d sold a few lights there. I actually let go of a Liteflux LF2XT to a CPF guy eager to upgrade the emitter, for a pretty damned good price then (wish I’d kept it, because value kept going up!). But now? You have to pay $35 a year to be able to sell anything. Forget that!

I’ve forgot already!
