Convoy C2 Battery

Would a 30Q Samsung be too much for a 2700k SST-20 4x7135 Convoy S2 light?

Thanks

No. That will be fine. Any 18650 will work since you are using a regulated driver. The 7135 chips set the current to the LED.

The 30Q is the cell to get if you can only have one IMO. Best balance of capacity and power. With a 1.4A driver though , the ideal match would be a Sanyo GA, LG MJ1 or M36, or Samsung 35E. But this is almost splitting hairs.

A Samsung 30Q can give up to 15Amps continuously. A 4*7135 driver needs 1.4Amps max. So you don’t NEED a 30Q when this is your only flashlight. Being a member of this forum, I own several lights. Some even demaning less power, but also a few that need all 15Amps to function properly. If you want every light to have its specific battery, be my guest.
But I like standarisation, so the 30Q is my go-to battery. If my low Amp light is running low, I can pop in a 30Q from a high Amp light. If I buy low Amp batteries for low Amp flashlights, I can’t reverse that action when a high Amp light runs low.

Over 75% of my 18650 batteries is 30Q, the rest is from a time before the 30Q hit the market.
I would stick to something like the 30Q, unless you have a special need for a special battery.

Thanks very much, I had hoped standardizing on the 30Q would be fine. It has worked well in my fw3a, so adding some more will be great.

Hands down, 30Q is the best single cell to own. If I didn’t have OCD, or rather applied it differently, then that’s all I would have as well. Virtually no light in the practical realm will suffer from using one.
