Forgot the #s, but regular (1?) is a coarse pattern, good if you want to blur the hotspot a bit but not completely trash its throw. I use that on a 2×D Luxpro to kill off the evil pissy beam from the G3, yet still let it “reach” a bit.
The other one (4? 7? whatever) is a finer grain, really diffuse, which is what I use on my E03. That should be the one that it sounds like you’d want. Nice and diffuse, but still a bit brighter in the center and fading as you go off-axis.
But still investigate and play with aspherics and TIRs. You might then hit on the Perfect Beam™ even if only at random.
If you have some wax paper in the house, try that as well.
Just mist the glass and apply the wax paper, trim with razor blade.
If you take the lens out just lay it over the paper and trim, then apply mist etc.
Kills the throw, milks up the tint and it’s dirt cheap, what’s not to love?
Yeah I just asked for samples in my order :-). This way I can choose which films I might want to use for my other lights depending on situation. Sorta like getting dressed for the day.
Nice! gonna add “Sanding” to my ToDoList. Oh I got some Metal Polish and a Dremel too. I once polished the yellow out of an old car headlight assembly. Works quite well too.
I tried scotch tape and it smooth out the hot spot and spill area but still throwy compare to TIR.
Yajiamei optic is much better quality than convoy TIR . Clemence have proven with Armytek headlamps.
Likely this one will fit without any modification. The total height of reflector + lens is about the same as this TIR. Just be mindful im using SST20 LED
Hey nice I saw the Ali link for TIR but they sell batches of 20 only. I just need 5 at the most lol.
Wait… I just had an idea. How about very light hand sanding on a spare lens! That should give a diffused look which is what I want.
If you're not wanting to kill too much throw I have a lighter frosted film that was listed as #2C. I may change the number to #3 since I no longer carry the really heavy/thick material that I was calling #3 . Either way the #2,2B,2C and #7 are some of the nicer frosted diffuser films I carry . I don't think I sent lightbringer any of the #2C but it's great stuff .Instead of throwing out so many samples with orders I am going to make up 2 or 3 assorted packs for people who want to try a little bit of everything .
