Help needed! 24v 7ah battery question

Regarding performance I agree. I researched these quite a bit, and the one I bought was higher end at $500.00 but apparently still comes with crap batteries.

Hi I have a huffy torex with the 12fm7 24v 7ah factory battery I want to buy 2 brand new battery’s with more ah I want to wire them parallel and want to gain more low end power enough to pull about 200lbs what battery’s should I get and where should I get them please post link and picture if possible

i seriously doubt it will have any effect, unless your battery are seriously mismatched with the motor, you won’t see any power increase. seems like that thing has pretty bad reviews, plastic gears, very fast breakdowns, maybe they put weak battery on purpose, so it is not loading gears, and not breaking that fast, but now it barely moves.

It will give it a slight power increase due to lower resistance and more than double the run time. The Huffy Torex makes power wheels look like hot wheels. The thing is a tank.

It does not need to be a single 24v battery. Wiring 2 12v batteries in series mimics a single 24v battery. the important thing is that all the batteries ah’s are the same so they drain at the dame rate.

If the battery is weak to power the unit (excessively loaded battery), installing 2 batteries in parallel will increase available power to some extent, and of course will also enhance runtime.

For a toy ride with some decent power level engine, the battery needs to be able to hold its load well. I don't know how much power that ride has, but SLA batteries are weak nearly by definition. They're usually rated at 0.05C, but you won't see that capacity when discharged harder and nowhere near it if discharged a lot faster which is what happens in a toy ride. The available energy is even lower due to the voltage drop with load.

If that kids' ATV has a ≈500 W motor, chances are that the continuous runtime at full power is barely above 6 minutes with a single 24V 7Ah lead acid battery. Two batteries will more than double (maybe triple) the runtime and also increase available power a little. Just don't expect a long lifetime, even deep cycle batteries from top brands are meant to be discharged just to 50% DoD. Deep cycling just @#$% lead acid batteries, keeping them discharged harms them. What this all means is, that it is very likely they are going to last very little.

In all honesty, you would save time and money by ordering some other custom battery pack from a different vehicle or appliance, with a different chemistry. Be it LiFePO4, li-ion or Ni-MH, they will perform much better (unless you install something too small C-rate wise). If you also choose a sightly higher voltage battery, power will also increase proportionally to the square of the available voltage, if all else withstands of course.

Put two new batteries in parallel, removing the old one.
That will increase the power output.

I now have 3 batteries in mine. the original 24v 7ah and 2 12v 7ah wired in series. I don’t need it to be any more powerful as it already goes about 10mph and with 4x4 the thing will go up a curb no problem. How much power does a 3 year old need? Lol just wanted to increase runtime which nearly tripled.

You set your 2S1P 12V 7Ah set (= 24V 7Ah) in parallel with the 24V 7Ah battery, doesn't it California_Prepper? If so it now is 24V 14Ah. The problem I see, however, is these two SLA batteries in series. Hope they live “reasonably enough” and stay matched, because once one of the 12V 7Ah batteries starts having trouble, the 24V battery will suffer the consequences. And conversely.

As I said above, just don't expect the thing to last very long. If it does, nice.

If I were you I would probably custom build a big LiFePO4 battery pack.

Yes you are correct in how they are wired. Whenever these batteries die, I will look into upgrading. For now, it was a cheap way to triple run time.

Is there any feedback if these battery mods lasted any length on time for the users?

Also, I can hardly find out any information or reviews on the Huffy Torex 24V UTV.

Can someone link one or give there personal recommendation?

My kids love it. It seems built far better that a hot wheels. Unlike hot wheels the frame is all metal. The thing is just beefy. However there are some downsides. 1.It is fast. And with how heavy it is it could be dangerous. 2. No low and high speed, just one speed. 3. Not remote control. Your kids will need to be old enough to handle it. My daughter is 3 and I’d say she’s honestly a bit too young but she can grow into it. Also if you YouTube huffy torex there are a few reviews. Hope this helps!

In absence of real reviews I did check out Huffy’s videos and in the comment section of the below linked video there were alot of horrible opinions of it and failures pointed out.

I wasn’t too pleased with all the control board failures even some here saying it is underpowered. Not sure what to do. We just ordered one and it’ll be in store in roughly 3 weeks. Sort of reiterating the comment I left on the video… I was looking for some simple specs and couldn’t hardly find anything. Called customer service and they were horrible. I’m doubting the likelihood of replacement parts being readily available. There’s nothing on eBay either. Unlike the power wheels that dominate the market with customizable upgrades.
I sure like the idea and the looks or the Torex, but I’m really on the fence?

Check out what this dude did to get a variable throttle. I loved that and the rubber tire upgrade he did to a standard power wheels. If we don’t go Torex, We’d do those upgrades to what we have now.

Yes it can definitely go up a decent hill no prob it is 4x4. It even went up my curb.

Have not had to replace anything and honestly don’t expect to with how tough it seems to be built.

Nothing has failed.

So far I like the battery upgrade but it hasn’t been used enough to test how well the new batteries hold up. But if they fail batteries are cheap enough on Amazon I’m not too worried about it.

All of my buddies that bought their kids a power wheel wish they would have bought this instead and that’s the honest truth.

I looked at tons of power wheels until I eventually came across the Torex. From watching my friends experiences, power wheels end up on the side of the curb after a year or two. This thing is much bigger and hopefully lasts much longer.

California_Prepper - would you be able to show pictures of your battery set up? I have two of their 24 volt batteries and want to wire them in parallel to double capacity. I would like to see how you were able to connect to the 24 volt battery.

Side note, be careful with the wires under the seat. They got crimped under the seat of ours and the wires started to heat up to the point the kids couldn’t sit down. The connection fused together and I had to use pliers to pull them apart. This ruined the connection on the battery by twisting one of the prongs. I thought wiring the batteries together would help me make use of it.

I tried to order an oem battery but they told me they were back ordered 7 months. One thing I suggest after hooking up the 2nd battery is to check how hot it gets every few minutes or so just to be on the safe side.
