Do you prefer traditional style or L-Shape Headlamp?

Currently my bare AL colored FW3A is duking it out with my NC HC30 for my work EDC. Now that I fixed the FW3A it is winning. But I still prefer an “L” shaped headlamp over traditional.

So, I’m going to get a headlight for a friend. What is the top dog now? If money was no object, which ne should I get? Thanks.

I love my L-shaped headlamps. They work great on a nice headstrap and I can set them on a flat surface to use as a work light. Some have magnets in the tail so they can be placed in a number of spots in my shop or car for light where needed. I’ve even put a length of paracord around the head and hung it around my neck. Also, I love a floody headlamp. A thrower doesn’t allow me to see my feet and when I’m hiking or backpacking at night, I DEFINITELY want to be able to see the rocks and roots that might trip me up without having to tilt my head down. The floody beam allows me to just glance down with my eyes.

A traditional headlamp design might be less bulky, but I’d have a hard time using it as a work light.

Armytek wizard pro or zebralight h600fc

Thanks.

I see two versions of the Armytek lights. Which one do you suggest?

Armytek wizard pro warm have a nice 4000k tint, white version is dollar tree flashlight tint

Cooooooo Thanks. 57 bucks sound fair to you?

Where are you located? They’ll charge you $30 for shipping out of China, if in the US, and you’ll have no support. AT’s warm looks yellow to me.

Armytek is not Canadian like they claim. Everyone of these bullet points is a lie. Try calling their number. It’s a burner phone number with a Washington State area code, that nobody answers

I’m in North Carolina USA

Zebralights are made in China too, but at least their offices are actually in Texas, ship free, have good customer service. I edited my post above, you might want to read.

Ok. Now, I’ll look at the Zebra lights. Thanks.

I think if you order from https://www.armytekstore.com the shipping is free and BLF35 give you 35% off

Traditional

The code doesn’t work for this and, the shipping is 8 bucks. Hmmmm

I’ve tried headlamps in a few shapes:

  • L shaped, like the PL47, where the LEDs are on the side of one end of the tube.
  • i shaped, like a ZebraLight headlamp, where the LEDs are at one end of the tube past the end of the battery.
  • T shaped, like a Nitecore HC50 or YLP Panda, where the LEDs are centered on the side of the tube.

My favorite is the T shape… ideally in a design where the LEDs don’t stick out very far. I want the LEDs centered and floody.

I don’t really like the L shape or i shape headlamps… at least, not for headlamp purposes. They’re okay when sticking out of a pocket or stuck to a metal surface, but those types of headless use aren’t why I buy head lamps.

1 Thank

Still cheaper than a zebralight :zipper_mouth_face: don’t forget, they have built-in charger and the battery is included so it’s way cheaper buying the wizard pro and for the code, “red” or “reddit” will give 10% off

Ok, thanks again.

I have a traditional style headlamp, and a L-shaped one.

I like that the L-shape headlamp is removable from the holder, and I can use it in hand. Also, the magnetic tail cap is useful for tasks under the hood and such, that require different light angles that a fixed headlamp might not be able to offer.

The traditional style is more of a one trick pony. Nothing really wrong with that, it does what is designed for, and does it well. Just not as much of a multipurpose tool like an L-shape.

Like a regular torch that can be hand held, can tail stand, or be mounted to a weapon, or bike. It offers flexibility.

I don’t really need a headlamp, but I may need an L-shaped flashlight for daily duties, emergency and sometimes, hands-free jobs.
